Sand Weight
Instructions:
1. Air inflate four 11" “Sugar Skulls” Onyx Black latex balloons to
9" (23cm) and make a 4-balloon cluster. Tie in sand weight to cluster.
2. Air inflate four 5" Orange latex balloons to 4.5" (11cm) and make
a 4-balloon cluster. Nest and rotate 4-balloon cluster into the cluster
from Step 1.
3. Air inflate three 11" “Sugar Skulls” latex (2 Purple Violet and 1
Orange) then deflate. Add a Raisin Twist to each of these balloons
by making three separate knots out of 260Q scrap,
one for each balloon (see pg. 2). Take one 11" Purple Violet, place
one of the 260Q scrap knots inside the balloon, then pull the knot
to the top center, stretching and tying it firmly with a scrap 260Q.
Repeat with the other two 11" balloons. ➤
TIP This design can be completely air filled if you air fill the
“Day of the Dead” Microfoil and downsize the latex as
follows: 10" “Sugar Skulls” latex balloons to 9" and 5"
latex balloons to 4". Tie firmly together to keep the
integrity of the structure.

HOW
Raisin Twist
Use Raisin Twists to
create attachment
points, add details
and unique distortion
techniques.
1. Tye several knots in a 260Q on top of
one another to forma a bulky knot. Trim the
balloon on each side of the knot.
2. Insert the knot into the balloon that is to
be inflated and place in position.Grasp the
knot from the outside of the main balloon.
Secure the knot in position by tying with an
uninflated 260Q.
260Q Bubble
1. Inflate a 260Q to
6", and tie. Make three
or four ½" bubbles at
the knot end, twisting
each bubble several
times in the same direction. NOTE: Hold the
first bubble with the little finger of one hand
to prevent the bubbles from untwisting.
2. Continue making ½" bubbles, twisting
each bubble several times until the entire
balloon is used. Allow the chain of bubbles
to extend out of your holding hand. You
should be able to make several bubbles in
one balloon.
4. Air inflate the 11" “Sugar Skulls” latex balloons from Step 3 to 10" (25cm)
and tie.
5. Firmly attach a 10" “Sugar Skulls” Purple Violet latex to the Orange 4-balloon
cluster from Step 2, then tie the 10" “Sugar Skulls” Orange to the top of the Purple
Violet. Air inflate two 5" Robin’s Egg Blue and two 5" Spring Lilac latex balloons
to 4.5" and make a 4-balloon cluster. Attach this cluster between the 10" Purple
Violet and Orange balloons, then twist two of the balloons in the cluster to secure.
6. Firmly attach the remaining 10" “Sugar Skulls” Purple Violet to the 10" “Sugar
Skulls” Orange latex, then repeat Step 5 to create another 4-balloon cluster of
Robin’s Egg Blue and Spring Lilac. Attach this cluster between the 10" Orange and
Purple Violet balloons, then twist two of the balloons in the cluster to secure.
7. Air inflate four 5" Orange latex balloons to 4.5" and make a 4-balloon cluster.
Firmly attach this cluster to the 10" Purple Violet “Sugar Skulls” latex.
8. Air inflate four 11" “Sugar Skulls” Onyx Black latex balloons to 6.5" (16.5cm)
and make a 4-balloon cluster. Nest and rotate cluster, then attach to the 4.5"
Orange 4-balloon cluster from Step 7.
9. Helium inflate a “Day of the Dead” Microfoil® balloon and roll the neck of the
balloon up using a 260Q scrap. Use the 260Q to tie the neck of the Microfoil into
the center of the 6.5" Onyx Black 4-balloon cluster.
10. Air inflate a 260Q Spring Lilac halfway and tie. Holding both ends, start
making a series of ten 1" (2.5cm) bubbles. Twist the balloon several times between
each bubble and keep hold of both ends of the balloon as you create the bubbles
to ensure they do not unravel. Firmly tie the two ends together when you have 10
bubbles, then cut off excess balloon. Repeat this step with remaining 260Qs
and randomly attach them to the Column using small squares of Balloon Bond®.
3. End the chain by twisting the first and
last bubbles together. If all the bubbles are
twisted the same way, the chain will twist
itself into a cluster. Adjust the shape of the
cluster as desired.
