Suggested Management
Big Squaw Pond has very good water quality for coldwater game fishes and should be managed for brook trout.
The pond is used as a source of drinking water for the town
of Greenville with the water supply intake located approximately one and one-half miles below the pond. Although the
pond has been closed to all fishing' ft,r many years there is no
justification for continuing this policy.
There is only one species of fish competing with the brook
trout and care should be taken not to introduce others.
The pond should be opened to fishing under a five fish limit
with no live fish used as bait.
