HEALTH & SAFETY INFORMATION
Working safely is a Condition of Employment at Brisbane Transport. Brisbane Transport is committed to a
Zero Harm workplace. We are committed to eliminating risks that may lead to injury or illness within our
workplace.
When driving public passenger vehicles, drivers must have a blood alcohol level of zero. If you are
suspected of having a blood alcohol level over zero you will not undertake a driving assessment and your
application may be withdrawn.
Your height and weight will be checked should you attend a pre-employment medical.
WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
Driver seats installed in Brisbane Transport buses have a design weight loading. The majority of Bus
Operator Seats in Brisbane Transport buses have a maximum driver weight loading design of 130kg and a
minimum designed driver weight loading of 60kg. A condition of employment for all employees engaged
to drive buses will be to maintain their weight above 60kg and below 130kg.
This policy is designed to set a framework to ensure that Brisbane Transport, in conjunction with its
employees, manages risks associated with the weight loading of its bus driver seats. Use of driver seats by
persons below the minimum or in excess of the maximum driver weight loading design could potentially
expose all employees who utilise the driver seats to safety risks.
HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
You may be required to undertake a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) with an occupational therapist if
your height is less than or equal to 156cm, greater than or equal to 185cm or any issue is identified that
requires further investigation.
NATIONAL FATIGUE MANAGEMENT REGULATION
