Create two of your own poems using the Laying the Foundation Lesson “The Poetry of Phrases.”
Your teacher will give you the packet.
Poem 1
Subject: The Outsiders – theme, character, setting, plot, etc.
Brainstorm ideas (from your two graphic organizers) and any others you would like to add
Write phrases that include those ideas.
Put your phrases into the pattern you have selected and add other elements included in the
pattern.
5. Give your poem an original, creative title (NOT The Outsiders)
6. In the very bottom right hand corner, please label which pattern you decide to use (1 – 5)
7. Type the final copy and turn it in to your teacher.
