It gave the British the power to send anyone to jail without a trial in court.
Jallianwala Bagh Massacre
The massacre of innocent people on General Dyer’s orders led to Non
Cooperation Movement in 1920 was the first big movement led by
Gandhiji and was the beginning of Gandhian phase of freedom struggle.
The Non Cooperation Movement aimed at attaining freedom by peaceful
means. But the movement turned violent in Chauri chaura and was
withdrawn. Some Indians were disappointed and started revolutionary
activities.

Simon Commission
The aim of the commission was to review the law and order situation in
India and come up with new reforms. Congress boycotted it as there were
no Indian members in it.
Civil Disobedience Movement
A new movement under the leadership of Gandhiji was launched called the
Civil Disobedience Movement. The movement started with the Dandi
March. The movement saw mass participation by people.

Quit India Movement
Congress dissatisfied with the response of government launched the Quit
India Movement. Gandhiji gave the slogan of “do or die”.
The Indian National Army
Subhash Chandra Bose organized the Indian National Army and fought for
India’s freedom.
India became a free country on 15 August 1947; the freedom however
came at a cost. The country was divided into two parts-India and Pakistan.
A new constitution was framed and India had its own government.
