03 Economic Development
In 2014, the Village of Matteson embarked on creating an Economic Development
and Land Use Master Plan. One key recommendation from the plan was to create
a comprehensive marketing and branding plan to highlight the unique assets of
Matteson. This plan is intended to work in conjunction with the Village’s economic
development efforts.
The beginning phase of the marketing and branding initiative began in the
summer of 2015.

New marketing & branding project to enhance perception
The purpose of the marketing and branding initiative is to create a unique and comprehensive community branding and marketing campaign. This campaign will strengthen the image of the Village for current and prospective
residents, visitors, and community partners as well as for economic development purposes.
The four main objectives of this project are to:
1. Assess the unique needs and goals of the Village through various market
research strategies, including but not limited to: key stakeholder interviews,
community-wide online survey, competitor analysis, and audit of current
marketing materials;
2. Facilitate education-based marketing strategies;
3. Create a comprehensive branding campaign including marketing messaging
and tagline, enhanced brand visuals, public relations and social media strategies;
and
4. Develop a strategic marketing plan and timeline for ongoing implementation.
Starting with market research activities in the summer of 2015; the project will involve various touch points with
residents and other stakeholders throughout the fall of 2015.
