PAZNAZ KIDZ CURRICULUM What is “Orange”? Orange is a group that puts out a curriculum strategy that is impacting churches and families across the nation. The Orange curriculum is available for birth-college and PazNaz is in the process of becoming united in our curricular approach across the various child and youth departments. Along with teaching kids about the Bible and Christian virtues, this curriculum partners with parents to bring God’s word to life throughout the week. How does this happen? Kids take home fun and easy tools for parents to use during the week: for grades 1-6, these tools are called “God Time” and “Parent Cue”. See details below! What is “252 Basics”? 252 Basics is based on a verse of scripture that describes how Jesus grew up. Its Luke 2:52 and it says, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” There are three principles that we learn from this passage. 1. Jesus grew in wisdom, 2. Jesus grew in favor with God, which is faith, 3. Jesus grew in favor with man, which is relationship. So our curriculum is anchored in these 3 principles: wisdom, faith, and relationship. As we unpack these three principles with the kids, we are helping kids internalize the following 3 truths: 1. I need to make the wise choice, 2. I can trust God no matter what, 3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated. PazNaz Kidz is using this curriculum during Sunday School (9:15-10:30am) and Children’s Church (10:30am12:15pm). The youth department (Jr. High & High School) is also using Orange curriculum for the teens, so families can be on the same page when talking about what they are learning at church. I encourage you to watch this short (2 minute) video about 252 Basics at http://whatisorange.org/252basics/. What is the “Parent Cue” page my child receives each week at Church? Each week your child will receive a 1/2 sheet of paper listing this week’s memory verse and Bible Story. We encourage you to put this on the fridge and refer to it during the week. Ask your child about “The Bottom Line”, talk through the “Meal Time” prompts (on the back) during dinner, and learn this week’s verse together! An option for some parents is the “parent cue” app for the iPhone and droid that brings to life what your kids are learning on Sunday and offers discussion prompts for parents, videos for kids, music related to the virtue of the month, and so much more! What is the “God Time” page my child receives each week at Church? Each week your child will receive a God Time page that includes 3 great devotionals for families to do together any day of the week! Parents have been asking for an easy tool to use during the week to make living out God’s word a part of the daily routine… and this is one way to do just that!
