YMCA OF
DODGE COUNTY
Crunch Time
In this season of giving, I am respectfully asking all of you to
consider a gift to our Y. A gift of importance like none other… You
see, our Y incurred substantial debt with the building of our
beautiful facility in 2007-a staggering debt of over $6.5 million.
Although our functional operation is one of the most effective and
efficient, it will never be enough. A few short years ago, our Y was
on the verge of extinction...but today, with the support of donors
and the community, we are so close to financial health….and now I
need your help. Our Y has just four short weeks to reach our goal to
solidify the Horicon Bank’s $2 million matching grant. With
$450,000 to raise by December 31, we desperately need your help.
Please consider a Pay It Forward gift to our Y this year. Not only
will it be matched dollar for dollar by Horicon Bank, but it will also
help ensure our Y’s ability to serve the people and organizations of
Dodge County for so many more generations to come.
Yours in Service,
Jen Kruel, Executive Director
We will be CLOSING at 3:00 pm on
December 24 and December 31.
We will be CLOSED on December 25
and January 1.

Our “Fitness and Friends” Participants
Every Tuesday and Thursday participants of Fitness and Friends look forward to 45 minutes of fun
in an energetic exercise program at the YMCA. Each month the program provides a variety of
exercises including Secret Strength, Drums Alive, Yoga, Dance
Around, and Cardio. The variety gives the participants the chance to
try new exercises so they can choose the exercise that works best for
them.
Many of the participants have been in the program since its inception in
2011. The regular participants work hard on their individual strength,
coordination, flexibility, stamina, mental well being, and overall self
esteem. An important factor of Fitness & Friends is that it also gives the
participants the opportunity to get involved in area community
programs that they otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to. When
the participants were asked what they liked about the Fitness and
Fiends program the major theme of their responses was that it is a fun
time to exercise and hang out with friends.
The AOA Cookie Exchange will be held on
December 17 @ 12:30. The event will be at
Ponderosa, please sign up at Welcome Desk
SCRIP
“The gift that gives back”
Scrip is gift certificates or cards from national and
local retailers. They’re the same gift certificates/cards that
you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in
our scrip program including Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Kwik Trip,
Piggly Wiggly, Recheks, Menards, Fleet Farm, The Gap, Papa
Murphy’s, Pizza Hut, Red Lobster, Starbucks, and many, many
others.
You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise
money. It’s simple -- scrip participating retailers agree to sell
gift certificates to our organization at a discount. Families like
yours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem
them for full face value, and our YMCA keeps the difference as
revenue.
The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household
shopping or Christmas shopping dollars to work. You earn
money for our Y without spending a single additional
penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at
the stores that participate in the scrip program! Scrip can be
used for just about any household purchase including food,
clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out.
TOY AND FOOD
DRIVE
TAKING DONATIONS
THROUGH DECEMBER 12
The YMCA is helping spread
holiday cheer by taking donations for the Dodge County
Food Pantry and the Dodge
County Toy Bank. Both organizations help countless families
throughout Dodge County.
The food pantry supplies the
staples of a healthy meal to
hundreds of families and is
currently in need of canned
vegetables, tuna, and peanut
butter. The Toy Bank provides
gifts for children that families
would otherwise be unable to
afford. Last year alone the
Dodge County Toy Bank was
able to give gifts to make the
holidays merry and bright for
over 500 families. Please help
us help them provide for more
families this year by bringing
an unwrapped, unopened toy
or nonperishable food item to
the aerobics studio.
