2015 SDFRW
What an amazing year we have ahead of us all! With “Boots on the Ground” and a real “Git R Dun”
attitude, and we have a recipe for success. With goals of growing both in number and in wisdom and
leadership, we can take this SDFRW to new heights!
Sandye Kading
2015 SDFRW President
2015 SDFRW Board of Directors
Here are a few words from our newly elected President...
Well, did the ground hog see his shadow? What is your prediction
for the next 6 weeks of weather in South Dakota? I have one that
you can count on. You can’t predict the weather in South Dakota!
Come snow, sleet, ice or hail the tough, git-r-dun folks of our state
will manage and all without help from the Federal Government.
Don’t you just love our state and her people?
It’s time now for the South Dakota Federation of Republican Women
to make our mark on Pierre for our ‘Legislative Day’ and Board of
Directors meeting. You have time to make those plans now, get
your car gassed up and head to our state Capital city. You will find
the itinerary for the day and hotel reservation information listed
in this newsletter. Be sure not to miss it.
There is much going on with the Federation at this time of year
and getting memberships dues in to the state treasurer is right at
the top of the to-do list. Please help your president and treasurer
with any new updates. Any members with information updates
need to passed on as well to keep our records updated as this is
what is sent to NFRW. Are you receiving the monthly ’NFRW Round
Table’ publication or the “Capital Connection” by email? If not, it
may be that we do not have correct information. Contact your
president to update and then contact SDFRW treasurer Nancy
Jensen: [email protected].
THE Moment you became a Federation Member, you are on a
Leadership Committee! Ladies, we are the “Go to Girls.” If there is a
job to be done, we are the ones who “Git-R-Dun.” Whether it is
planning, hosting, campaigning, lobbying, making calls, manning
booths, we are the “Boots on the Ground.” When the Republican
Women show up, everybody knows, “The Girls are Back in Town!” Let
your passion and enthusiasm for ‘doing the next right thing’ for our
country be contagious! Be a proud member of the Federation of
Republican Women, from the clubs, to the states and to the Nation.
When Republican Women show up in the halls of the state capitals
and our nation’s capital, we are greeted with respect and
admiration. It is a fact that we women are hardworking and
politically savvy members who are part of the federation
representing thousands of others from all parts of our country. You
are Empowered, Engaged and Educated Members of the South
Dakota Federation of Republican Women!"
WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) made the following statement after taking
the oath of office as South Dakota’s 27th Senator:
“It’s an incredible privilege to continue serving the people of South Dakota, and I’m humbled by
the trust you’ve placed in me to represent you in the United States Senate. Now that the pomp
and circumstance is over, I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work. I look forward to
working closely with Sen. Thune and Rep. Noem to advance South Dakota priorities andvalues.”
What an incredible opportunity for South Dakota and America to have our entire delegation be Republicans.
It is our responsibility to take advantage of this position and get the things done or undone that are good for
our country. Enough being bullied by this Administration!!
GO MIKE!!
GO KRISTI!!
KRISTI!!
GO JOHN!

News from Meade County
The Meade County Republican Women started the year off on Friday, January 2nd for their regular
club meeting at Caddy's/Philtown in Sturgis. Our guest speaker was Jerry Derr, founder of the
Sergeant Colton Levi Derr Foundation. He currently works for the Meade County Commissioners as
Assistant-Human Resources. Jerry was in law enforcement for many years, serving in Iraq for 3 years
with the National Guard training Iraqi police. He founded the organization in honor of his son,
Colton who after returning for many tours of duty and suffering with Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder took his own life. The foundation's goal is to help the veteran and their families who are
struggling with PTSD and going through difficult times after they return home. They want to raise
awareness of how many soldiers take their lives every day--23! That number is unacceptable. The
Foundation would like to find a place in Rapid City where veterans can go to visit and have a cup of
coffee. Please visit their website at www.Sergeantderrfoundation.org. The Meade County Republican
Women were honored to give the Foundation $50.00 towards their Caring for America project.
Our next meeting is Friday, February 6th at Noon at Caddy's/Philtown in Sturgis.
As we petition the throne room of Almighty God, please remember to pray for those who have
recently lost a loved one. May God continue to comfort them in the days ahead.
Please remember to pray for those who are ill. May God's hand reach down and heal them.
Please remember to pray for all of our military men and women who are on the front lines here and
abroad. May God protect them and return them home. May God watch over their families while they
are away.
Please remember to pray for all of our members of Congress, the Supreme Court and our President.
These are our leaders and we need to pray that they walk in Godly wisdom and character.
Please remember to pray for all of our leaders in South Dakota from Senators Thune and Rounds,
Congresswoman Noem, Governor Daugaard and the Legislature, Supreme Court and Constitutional
officers. May God hold them tightly in His hand, showering them with wisdom and courage to do the
right thing.
Please remember to pray for all of those affected by the winter storms here and abroad.
Please remember to pray for our new SDFRW President, Sandye Kading and her team. May God bless
them in the next two years.
