Algebra 2: TERM 1 PROJECT Function Family Album & Scrapbook: An Activity for groups of 2-­‐3! Goal: Create a scrapbook for the 6 function families. Your scrapbook will include detailed graphs, characteristics, and the effects of transformations. Your family photo album or poster must include the stories of the following families: -­‐Linear -­‐Quadratic -­‐Cubic -­‐Absolute value -­‐Radical (aka Square Root):𝑓 𝑥 = 𝑥 !
-­‐Rational: 𝑓 𝑥 = ! Requirements: Names of group members on the FRONT of the poster/album Function family “pages” included on one poster board or in one book like item. Each function family page must have: -­‐“Parent” function (function, and graph) -­‐One type of each of the parent’s different “children” (functions and graphs) -­‐Translation up or down -­‐Translation left or right (except linear) -­‐Reflection over the x-­‐axis -­‐Stretch or shrink -­‐An explanation about how each child differs from the parent -­‐Characteristics of the parent graph, which include: Domain, Range, Intercepts (x and y), Intervals of increase and decrease, maximum and minimum values, and end behavior. -­‐Artistic Influence Materials: Poster board, construction paper and other necessary items will be provided.
