On the 31st of October, 2017, there will be a public holiday for just this year throughout Germany: Reformation Day. It was on this day exactly 500 years ago that Martin Luther published his 95 theses against the abuse of indulgences. He sent letters to church officials with his theses, and according to legend he nailed them to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg.
