Headliner 042415 - The Academy of Palm Desert Community

Good afternoon Academy Families,
TGIF!!! It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of another school year!!! Below is this week’s
bulletin from Mrs. Reinhagen, along with several important attachments we hope you will read over
thoroughly.
With only 26 days left of school, the elementary school will begin the ABC countdown next THURSDAY,
April 30th with simple/fun activities represented by the letter of the day. We start with the letter A:
“Airplane Day”.
Each student will make a paper airplane. Right after the wheel we will gather around the grass area in
front of the preschool and one class at a time will fly their paper airplanes to see whose goes the
furthest.
Friday, May 1st: letter B: “Bubble Gum Day, Bubbles, or Balloons”. After prayer, pledge, and
announcements during morning assembly, the kids will sit in one big circle. We will pass out a piece of
bubble gum (or bubbles or a balloon) and each student tries to blow the biggest bubble possible. The
kids always have so much fun with the countdown activities!
May Activities & Lunch Program payments are due on Monday, April 27th, as well as yearbook
purchases and pictures for the Mother’s Day Tea! Yearbooks will be distributed on June 4th so
elementary/middle school kids can get all their teachers’ and classmates’ signatures on their last day of
school… they are 45 page, beautiful, all-color, hard bound cover books - ORDER NOW FOR YOUR COPY.
If your child is in grades 1-7 and is interested in performing in this year’s talent show on June 4th from
1:00-3:00, please see Mrs. Reinhagen by Friday, May 22nd for an audition. Students can perform solo,
with another student or in a team. Last year we had performances in comedy, martial arts, singing and
dancing, even a hula hoop performance with blinking lights! It was really a lot of fun for the kids and the
spectators!
Have a beautiful weekend,

Friday Bulletin – April 24, 2015
Happy Friday Everyone,
Well we did pretty well with registrations. We are gearing up for a great 2015-2016 school year. We
have up to twenty new students either enrolled or still scheduled for a tour. They range across all grade
levels, so please be sure your child’s space is reserved.
Some of the new and exciting highlights:

Middle School is growing and I believe we will have an eighth grade class
by the 2016-17 school year.

Spanish as a Core Subject in middle school and part of the wheel in
grades 1-5.

Full-time International Students (Chinese primarily) in our Middle School,
coming to get a head start on their English Language Development prior
to High School. We are expecting five to seven new international middle
school friends. No housing required.

Full-time International students in the lower grades will require housing,
so we will be looking and asking for host families as soon as I have the
numbers. There is a room and board stipend beginning at $1,300 per
month. This is an enormous learning experience for your family as well
as our international students. I do know that this is an enormous
sacrifice for you and your family. Please let us know if you are
interested.
