A-KEEP is organizing a one-of-a-kind historical photo
exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary of
the Division (the De-Militarized Zone (DMZ), an area
established by the Armistice Agreement of July 27,
1953) and the 24th anniversary of the Unification
(the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989) and the 10th
anniversary of the establishment of the Green Zone –
the former dividing line, once protected from
development by a political divide, now set aside for
environmental recovery.

This true historical photo exhibition demonstrates
how nature and humanity recovers from a painful
divide; how Germany united, how it impacted
their economy and politics and affected
themselves and others. As we study Germany’s
history, think about what hope it offers for the
future humanity and for the currently divided
Korean Peninsula.
These photos will stimulate our inquisitiveness and
motivate us to think about the past, present and
future. While viewing these photos, we may ask,
“Where are they now?” We will be led to
continuously ask how they achieved it. There are
endless questions once one is challenged. The
immeasurable benefit is priceless!

A study of humanity – how these two nations divided
by war, yet how one united – how about the other,
what should we anticipate…? We plan to showcase
100+ historically profound photos of these transboundary regions as historical timelines consisting of
ten (10) sub-categories with comparison and
contrast.
There is an insurmountable understanding of exactly
what an exhibit
exhibition like this can do for the humanity
within each person who attends. Bringing people
together to share in our collective history has
rekindled the enthusiasm of Koreans, Germans, and
all those who find themselves searching for a cultural
connection or an ami
amicable union.

Having the opportunity to witness such a historical
event is more than just educational; it is an
emotional journey awakening the deeply rooted
heritage in even the most closed-off corners of the
mind and heart. Walking past each photograph along
the visual timeline of Korea’s history, of Germany’s
history, unlocks door after door of a separated, but
united history of people; bringing pain and joy all at
once. Seeing the similarities and the differences
splashed across each print is a reminder of what we
have gone through and are going through as another
journey from diversified, yet divided communities to
an inclusive and harmonious community.
It awakens the hearts of those who hear about this
exhibition to think about what Freedom is about and
what it costs to have liberty in our hearts.
