company to sell their multi-coloured tie-dye clothing in the
canteen.
• The student council made a PowerPoint for LGBT week.
LGBT WEEK
SVP Collection
• On the 9th of December the student council organised a St.
Vincent de Paul Christmas food collection.
• Each person brought in one item to donate.
• The student council made a PowerPoint for the Saint Vincent de
Paul.
• A non-uniform day was held, day the student council raised €1,000
which half of went to SVP in a time of need. SVP sent a letter back
to the school to express their gratitude.
Christmas Day Out
• Before the Christmas holidays we went on a trip to Dundrum
cinema to see the movie CREED and went to mc Donald's
afterwards.
• Everybody involved had a really great time
Comhairle na nÓg
• The student council went on a trip to Druids Glen to a positive
mental health conference. There, we did a fun workshop on mental
health.
• We also met with the Comhairle na nÓg council.
1916 Remembrance Day
• We were part of the 1916 remembrance day organisation
committee.
• Ben o'Neil, our first year student councillor pulled the string and
revealed the Easter rising remembrance plaque.
• Chloe Longmore, our third year student council representative,
read a poem about the Easter rising.
• Another non-uniform day held by the student council raised
enough money to purchase the commemorative plaque which was
unveiled at the event.
Water Fountains
• The student council also fixed the water fountains as they have
been out of order since last year.
G.I.F.T-Global Issues Fortnight
• For Global issues fortnight we supported the campaign by handing
out fair trade bananas and Brontë Magee Baker, our fourth year
representative, made posters highlighting the global goals
Arts Week
• For arts week, we helped set up the displays and our student
council co-ordinator, mr. Rice, joined in on the festivities
Centra Jersey
• Our local Centra donated a cheque for €500 to the school in order
to get the boys soccer team new jerseys. Ryan Heffernan, our fifth
year representative and Conor Martin and Jodie Martin our sixth
year representatives went up to centra and accepted the cheque.
Health Promoting School
• The student council linked in with ms. Egan and the HPS team
many times during the year. We helped analyse the questionnaire
about what we wanted to change in the school
Music at Break
• Rachel Kennedy, our fifth year representative, organised a music
playlist that is played on Fridays during lunch time and is there to
boost the students positive mental health.
Non-uniform Days
• The student council has held multiple non-uniform days for various
charities such as cancer awareness and for positive teen mental
health as well as investing some of the money back into the school.
• We also held a festive non-uniform day at Christmas and the
majority of people wore Christmas clothing.
• The student council has raised over €1000 for the parents council
which has been kindly reinvested in the school and the activities.
Healthy Eating Week
• Healthy eating week was yet another successful week where we
linked in with the HPS team again and made posters on why we
should ear healthily. Brontë Magee Baker in fourth year also
measured our bags of sugar to show how much sugar is actually in
our food and drink.
Active Week
• For active week we linked in with the HPS and organised to have
dancing and short walks after school on Thursdays.
• We also have the meditation room for seniors to relax in before
school every day.
CCTV Policy
• The student council also reviewed the schools CCTV policy. After all
of us proof reading the policy we agreed it was acceptable and we
sent an email to the principal, Mr. Eivers, saying that we approved
it.
Canteen
• We also approached the canteen staff because from the
questionnaire, we learnt that the students wanted healthier
options so we asked the canteen staff if they could accommodate
that request and there has been an increase in healthy options.
• We are also trying to have one sugar free day each week (hopefully
Wednesday).
Conclusion
• As you can see from our presentation the student council has
worked very hard this year and will continue to for the rest of the
year. We have enjoyed our experience with the student council so
far which is largely due to our amazing student council coordinator Mr. Rice.
• We believe we have accomplished everything we have set out to do
this year.
• Thank you for taking the time for listening.
