Arrows & Snorkels at the ready! Quids in Sports returns
The Guernsey Sports Commission are proud to announce that four new activities are being
introduced into our popular Quids in Sports programme this summer. This initiative, one of
the Sports Commissions flagship programmes, offers young people the chance to stay active
and try new sports in the school holidays for only £1.
This summer we have activities for anyone in Reception to Year 11 and these are on offer
during the school holidays starting on the 29th July and costs only £1 per participant per
session.
This is the first time we are offering activities for children in Reception to Year 2 and two
individual Fun & Fit club sessions are being offered which will involve one hour of fun
structured play & games led by staff at the Guernsey Sports Commission.
Marketing Officer at the Sports Commission, Oliver Tracey, highlighted that “those in
secondary school are also in for a treat as they have the chance to try Sea Sports, Sports in
the Park & Archery alongside some other popular activities including fishing & surfing that
have been on offer before”. No previous experience is required and all of the equipment for
the activities is provided.
The Guernsey Sports Commission would like to
extend their thanks to the Ray Lowe Sporting
Foundation who are supporting our ‘Quids in
Sports’ programme for the duration of 2013.
Their continued support allows us to provide
these opportunities to young people for only £1
which is a price affordable by everybody.
We would also like to thank the Guernsey Surf School, John Rothwell & the Youth
Partnership for Guernsey & Alderney for supporting us in providing the wide range of
activities available this summer.
Further information about the ‘Quids in Sports’ programme can be obtained by visiting our
website at http://www.guernseysports.com or by picking up a booking form from Beau
Sejour Leisure Centre or our offices. We will also be using the hashtag #quidsinsports to
promote all of the activities that are on offer for £1 and new followers can find us on most
social networks by searching “guernseysports”.

relevant information for our current programmes that we are delivering within the

Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation
The Foundation was launched in memory of the late Ray Lowe with a main focus of providing
financial and other support to young Guernsey people participating in sport.
Allied to that objective, it is an aim to help youngsters to develop not only their talent, but their
positivity, self-confidence and ability to act as part of a team.
Rather than placing the emphasis purely on assisting individuals already identified as talented in
their arena, the Trustees will take a broader approach in encouraging youngsters at all levels to
further develop their interests and achievements in their selected activity.
