Depot Road works: Braun Street to the Gateway Motorway ramps
As part of the Gateway Upgrade North project, Depot
Road is being upgraded from two lanes to four between
Braun Street and the Gateway Motorway ramps (refer to
the map overleaf).
These works are being undertaken to provide additional
capacity, and improve safety and connectivity on the local
road network. Works will be undertaken in stages from midAugust 2016 until late 2018.
Stage One works:
From mid-August until late 2016, the following works are
expected to be carried out on Depot Road:
 vegetation trimming and clearing
 site establishment, including setting up site compounds
and work areas on Depot Road and Braun Street
 installation of traffic barriers and other site controls
 underground and overhead service relocation works
 construction of new footpaths on the western side of
Braun Street and the southern side of Depot Road
 drainage works on the western side of Braun Street and at
the Depot Road/Braun Street/ Board Street/Deagon
Deviation intersection
 commencement of earthworks and road widening
activities.
Future stages will be notified as the works progress.
Working hours:
A combination of day and night works will be undertaken to
complete the Depot Road upgrade.
Works will be undertaken during the day wherever possible.
However due to the nature of works and their proximity to live
traffic, some activities will need to be undertaken at night
when traffic volumes are lower, for the safety of motorists and
workers.
Working hours include:
 Day works: Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm and Saturday
from 8am to 1pm.
 Night works: Monday to Friday, 8pm to 5am and Sunday
4pm to 5am.
What to expect:
During works, surrounding residents, businesses and motorists
can expect:
 increased levels of noise, dust and vibration due to the use
of heavy construction equipment and machinery
 temporary access changes for some residents and
businesses along Depot Road and Braun Street
 localised traffic changes, including installation of traffic
control devices, reduced speed limits, road shoulder/lane
closures, changes to traffic flow, traffic stoppages and
short-term traffic disruptions. Police/traffic controllers will
be in place to direct motorists during works.
 localised pedestrian and cyclist changes, including
temporary pathway closures and detours. Traffic
controllers and signage will be in place to assist and direct
pedestrians and cyclists.
 use of temporary lighting towers to light work areas and
site compounds at night
 increased construction traffic accessing work areas and
site compounds, fitted with flashing lights and reversing
alarms for safety reasons
 planned service outages associated with underground and
overhead service relocation works. Advanced notice will be
provided prior to any planned service outages.
 removal of on-street parking opportunities between Braun
Street and the Gateway Motorway ramps.
Key works will include:
