Pastor’s Pen
When Christ is completely in your life for real, expect to be packed with more zeal!!!
Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's
throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
Isaiah 9:7
Dear Church Family,
What a great word – ‘zeal’. Can you feel the emotional, spiritual and physical energy in
this word? When I hear this word, I get a sense of excitement, enthusiasm and explosive
energy. Do you and I have zeal for our faith, zeal to serve others, zeal for the church,
and zeal to serve GOD!
Webster’s dictionary describes zeal as 1) eagerness and ardent interest in pursuit of
something; 2) a strong feeling of interest and enthusiasm that makes someone
very eager or determined to do something.
Zeal expends great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective. I believe
God approached the birth of His Son with enthusiasm and excitement. He was eager!
Redemption was being sent to his creation! How was this to be accomplished? By his
own zeal and the zeal of his Son, Jesus. Let us, too, be zealous in expressing our
gratitude for God’s great gift.
It is my hope and prayer that we, as a congregation filled with zeal will unite in
promoting love and compassion with one another and then go beyond the walls of our
church with the same zeal to care for all we meet. Anne Frank, one of the most discussed
victims of the Holocaust who wrote, The Diary of a Young Girl, documenting her life
while hiding from the Germans is a widely known book. She said, How wonderful it is
that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve he world.
I believe together we can reach beyond the personal and collective goals we hope to see
here at CBC. Many people use the month of January as a fresh beginning to accomplish
whatever goals they have set for the next twelve months. I feel very fortunate to be in a
church community where I witness and feel the zeal of people wanting to go the extra
step in serving others. I am ready to jump in with all of you so bring forth your ideas
and goals you would like to attain for 2016. I believe we have already created a solid and
committed foundation to move forward. May 2016 be the start for achieving your
individual objectives and fill your lives with health, peace and joy!
Peace,
Pastor Kurt

you are doing the impossible.

Adopt a Family
On behalf of the Central Baptist Church I would like to offer our gracious thanks for
your generosity of contributing your donation for our Christmas ‘Adopt a Family’. The
family and many of us at the church were ecstatic with the amount of donations
received. Your gift helped to make this a very Merry Christmas for a single mom and
four children.
When mom received the several boxes of donations there were happy tears and she was
very, very appreciative. Please know you made a big difference in the lives of four
people that will cheerfully provide many good memories.
We offer thanksgiving to God for people like you who give so generously to help others
especially in distressed times. May you have a wonderful and Merry Christmas and the
New Year be a blessing to you filled with health and joy.
Blessings and Peace in our Lord,
Reverend Kurt Satherlie
