 Presents: The Top 10 Resolutions of Fun Eat Healthy. With 12 demos and 10 interactive activities going on throughout the day, you can’t get enough of the fun of being healthy for the New Year. Chef Experience Join us for a fun Chefs of Dallas Interactive designed to give the kids a hands on kitchen experience. Chef Horowitz, Chef Hyde, and Chef Sloan are bringing in all the kid friendly tools to teach them how to survive in a pinch for their afternoon snacks. With classes on basic kitchen tools, food identification, meal building, and recipes swaps the youth of today will get to design their very own cookbook with nutrition facts, new foods and grocery budget that any parent can afford. Edible Leaves and Trees John Wolf and his daughter are coming out to talk about their home grown herbs, farming in today’s culture and how kids can turn a porch into the neighborhood seasoning center. With tips on what herbs and seasonings to use with what foods, medicinal properties of tea leaves, and other fun facts families will bring in the New Year with a better understanding of healthy foods, healthy tips and healthy dinner choices. The Farm Girls The Farm Girls are bringing out their portable garden and seed cupcakes to help even the youngest healthy eaters get head start on learning how to grow healthy. With their Truck Farm onsite and fun activities for the kiddos, Donelle and Friends bring a fun garden to life and a chance for their pod casts to jumpstart healthy urban gardening. Taste If You Dare Challenge We are putting our taste buds on the line with our open sampling of exotic foods, culinary delights and the Taste if you Dare Family Challenge. We can show you facts and figures, have the kids learn how to grocery shop, but what is more important than knowing what you are buying is what your family will eat. Now you can take the taste challenge with the kids and grow your culinary taste buds to new horizons for the New Year. American Heart Association Join the American Heart Association as they bring out some fun on how to grow a healthy heart that will keep on loving for a life time. Hitting the ground running, The American Heart Association is bringing in the New Year with some tried and true ways to eat healthy, live healthy and grow healthy. They also have some fun in store for us as well.. Stay tuned for the more info on this area. Exercise More. Here is your chance to find that one thing that will help the whole family get into shape. With over 30 demonstrations and 15 interactive activities it is hard not to find something to get the heart pumping. Sports and More… Join some or our local sports groups for some fun basic training skills. Dallas City FC is bringing out their Goalie Box to help improve your winning kicks while the Dallas Tennis Association wants to improve your swing. But it’s not all about the action, take a few minutes to learn the skill of golf with First Tee of Greater Dallas. So take a few minutes and learn the basics of a new sport, or show your kids how it was done back in the old days. The whole family will have a chance to show what they got and more. Flipping for You Join local gymnastics enthusiasts and coaches from Gymboree, Dallas Cheer and Richardson Community Gymnasium to learn the basics of gymnastics, cheer and aerobics. Don’t miss our mommy and me class for beginner exercisers. Show your high kicks on the cheer floor and see what you are made of in our low impact aerobics tutorial. The kids are in charge so hope you can keep up. Because Adventuring is Exercise Too… Like to fly? Take swing on our Zip line. Looking for something more grounded, challenge the family to a round of laser tag. Want to prove you got more gumption than your kids? Take a run through our obstacle course. So if sports aren’t your thing, this is the exercise challenge that will raise your heart beat. Get Creative. Being creative means thinking outside the box, but not always. Take a few minutes to learn how to open your kids up to new thought processes, and fun projects to do around the home. Air Graffiti Join our artist and the team from Air Graffiti to commit to your resolutions. Let the whole family digitally spray paint on the walls of Fair Park. With a 10 ft. screen and digital paint the whole family can create their New Year’s resolution. Our artist will be on hand to help even the youngest “Resolutionist” get their message on The Wall. Shoes for Thought… Thanks to a wonderful donation from Famous Footwear, we are able to put the box back into creative. Let the kids create their own 3D picture to hand on their wall or set on the shelf. Sometimes a box is just not a box. What’s hiding in your shoe box at home? Find out when the kids let it out with this fun lesson in building in 3D. Imagination to Paper… Join several art majors from local colleges as they break out their pencils and paints to teach our youngest architects how to put their ideas on paper. With 25 easels, over 1000 pencils and 60 artists onsite, you never know what your kids will learn how to do with a pencil and a piece of paper. Take a few minutes to join the demo on the first motion picture. Your kids will be creating flip movies for months with these new skills. Claymation is still cool… Let the kids mix and make their own playdough, modeling clay and goop at this fun interactive. Don’t worry it’s all edible so even the littlest sculptor can create at this station. Mix and make, create and sculpt, take it home and enjoy the recipes for all those snow days. Don’t forget to drop into the Claymation filming demo to let your kids learn how to make their very own movie with their clay players as the star. Even Wallace and Grommit would be interested in this adventure. Have Fun With Family. When family time becomes referee time, learn how to change that into the most loved time of your kids’ week. Clowning Around Allowed… Members of the Circus Freaks Performing Company will be on hand at Day1 Dallas to teach juggling, object manipulation,
hooping, clown silliness, and other performance skills. Stop by our official play area in the Automotive Building and join the
circus for an afternoon of play, exploration, and fun! No movement or circus experience necessary.
Imagination Playground
Watch the kids build their very own playground right before your eyes. Lend a hand, take a picture or let them build it around
you. This unique playground builders set from Imagination Playground will literally lift your kids’ imagination off the ground. Let
your family learn how physics can be used at the age of 5 or 50.
Frustration Elimination 101
Slow things down on those days of family shenanigans with Family Yoga from the Crow Collection. Learn how take time out
each week for a family relaxation experience with Yoga. It’s not whether or not you can get the pose right, it’s the adventure of
learning it together. Join our family yoga instructor for an adventure in family fun.

Join in the fun with some classic carnival games and activities that will bring the kid out in everyone. With 10 different games
and other fun stuff to do you can take a break and have some old fashioned fun with family. Don’t forget to grab info along the
way on how to create the games at home with things you already have.
Fair Food Extravaganza
Just because it’s the New Year and your learning how to be healthy, doesn’t mean you start today. Join our food vendors as
they bring out the best of the best of Fair Food and Munchies all day long. From Corn Dogs to BBQ, Cotton Candy and peanuts,
it’s all here for the day. So take some time and enjoy a midday break with some fun food. Don’t worry we will still have some of
those New Year Day Traditions in place, so bring on the beans and hambones, collard greens and wings. Everyone in the family
will be able to ring in the New Year with a food of their choice.
Help Others. As we build our resolutions and look for ways to improve, we sometimes forget that others may not be able to help themselves. Take a few moments to learn how your kids and family can make a difference in your community. Community Wall of Giving As a new generation of leaders emerge, they are ready to hit the ground running. Several of Dallas ISD Student Councils are building a Wall of Giving. This wall will host volunteer and time donation needs for over 100 organizations in the Dallas County and the Surrounding areas. High School and Middle School students will have an opportunity to learn, get more information and make choices on how they are going to give their time in 2016. More importantly, several of the opportunities will allow the whole family to volunteer. We look forward to seeing the Show Case Centerpiece they are dedicating to Vogel Alcove on this wall. Learning to Lead Join talks and demos hosted by the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. Look for information on how to join, what they are all about and how your family can get involved. The SPCA joins us with important information on animal safety, adoptions and training. Looking for something cute and cuddly for the day? Stop and visit with some of their star pupils that are ready to showcase in local homes. Don’t forget to ask how you can help out with their cause on a daily basis. Rodgers Wildlife Rehabilitation will be out with some really cool creatures to educate the kiddos on wild life safety and rescue. Learn how to trap a possum, pet a bat, or touch a snake. You never know who will be visiting the Refuge over the holidays. We know that Rudolph is a huge fan of their deer rescues in West Texas. Learn Something New Who says learning has to be all about books and grades. Take time out to learn some awesome new moves that won’t embarrass you with the neighborhood kids or parents… Dancing doesn’t count as Exercise….Right? Because it’s too much fun. Join one of our dance schools to learn the two step, Irish jig, or latest hip hop moves on the dance floor. Don’t be afraid to join the kids on the dance floor. Just because its fun doesn’t mean it’s not healthy. Not sure you can dance? Don’t worry we will have the basics out there with a hula hoop instructor and all. Petting Zoo of Sound Join Gary Bowman of the Texas Cotton Kings and some of the most popular local musicians as they open up their cases and let the sounds out. The kids will get a chance to pick up and play with instruments from all genres of music. Electric guitar on the Christmas List? Let ‘em try it out here first. You never know they may decide the sax or the fiddle is more for them. Don’t be afraid, even the big kids can pet the musical animals throughout the day. Protect me? Protect You… Join several of our handpicked martial arts instructors for classes on self-­‐defense, kids’ protection moves and basic defense moves from some of the martial arts used in the movies. Don’t miss the demonstration on Movies vs Real Life in the Martial Arts Arena. Know that after the Rescue Myself workshop even your kindergartner will know some new moves to help protect them from stranger dangers. Seahorses and Treasure Hunting… Join several of North Texas PADI Instructors to learn about ship salvaging, under water adventures, and breathing under the sea. Get a hands on experience with dive suits, air tanks and other tools of the underwater trades. With 5 classes on rescue diving, adventure diving, and other jobs under the sea, your kids will learn how to work and play in world all its own. Recycle Reuse Repurpose. Our environment is our friend and now it is time to start helping it become stronger. Eco-­‐Explorer Zone Let the dirt fly here.. The kids will get a chance to create their own portable garden starters, design their own eco board game, and create their own species of Recycloon Birds. So fun fact, did you know that most bottle caps from plastic containers are NOT recyclable? The kids will get to help build and design a bottle cap mural onsite. And what do you as a parent do with all those holy clothes you can’t donate? Your kids will get to learn how to make a t-­‐shirt graffiti quilt that is made of recycled clothes and stitch free. As family design and make a Pledge Flower to add to our Bouquet of Flowers. Helps us create a 10 ft. display of commitment to saving the environment one good deed at a time. Bottle Basics… Join several groups of High School Art and Mechanics Majors as they show your kids how to build bedroom furniture out of plastic bottles and other recycled materials in the house. Just wait you will never have to buy a piece of furniture for the kids’ room again. They break it, they drink some bottle water and fix it. Let the kids learn how to create their own worlds in life size pieces. 25 Ways to Save Thanks to Great Cartridge Inc., our young environmentalists will get to learn how to turn 25 daily actions into 100 years of conservation. Sounds like a big deal? Not really this workshop puts the power of conservation in the hands elementary kids across the nation. Don’t forget to sit in on the class so you can learn how to use these tips at the office to help out their journey to become and Environmental Protection Specialist. Trash or fertilizer? That is the question. We will be working with Waste Management Services and some local composting experts in the area to show how landfills are being changed into some of the world’s largest composting piles. As the population grows so does our waste, the kids get to learn the basics of composting, trash reduction and what the word waste really means to the birds and squirrels in their neighborhood. Take A Break & Relax Nothing says peace in the household like a quiet afternoon of on the couch.. or on the porch… or where are the kids? It’s too quiet around here!! Massage Parlor Quick Stop Take a ten minute break and let the family enjoy a quick mind relaxing massage. As a parent we dream of a quiet massage, let the kids learn what it means to truly stop and relax at this Quick Stop. Enjoy a classic kids feature in the Historic Movie Theatre in the Hall of State Museum. Show your kids how the original movie theatres and viewing were set up in your home town. Well the kids get a chance in the cockpit of this fun learning tool from the Frontiers of flight museum. They will get to actually work the controls on a plane, learn the basics of the instruments and see if being a pilot is right for them… well they never actually leave the ground but they can imagine it!! Because Gaming is Cool…. We are bringing out 2 Game trucks for you and the family to try out some of the newest and most popular games on all the gaming systems. Take a 20 minute break and join the cyber world of gaming at our Portable Gaming Arcades. Games2U are some of the best game and party trucks in town and they are kicking off the New Year with Day1Dallas.
