SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES
It’s an exciting time to be a youth or young adult
member (YYAD) of Gates of Heaven, Church of
the Living God International (GOH). All YYAD
should easily be identified as holy and upright
on a daily basis, even on social media. GOH
recognizes that social media is used to communicate the one-of-a-kind individual God created
each YYAD to be. However, in order to avoid
your good being evil spoken of (Romans 14:6),
the Youth & Young Adult Department has prepared guidelines for YYAD using social media.
These guidelines are designed to assist YYAD
in making responsible decisions when creating,
posting or otherwise contributing to blogs, social networks, wikis, virtual worlds or other social
media. Whether you use sites such as Facebook,
LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Instagram,
SnapChat, Pinterest or Wikipedia – or comment
on blogs or any form of digital media – these
guidelines are for you.
1. There is no privacy on the web. Think before you publish anything; any content can
be shared beyond your control.
2. Don’t post information that you think is
true. If you realize that you’ve make a mistake or error, correct it quickly.
3. Use common sense and good judgment.
You’re accountable for your actions and your
statements could have an impact on others.
Remember that what you post or publish
may be public information for a long time.
4. Do not use profane, obscene, or threatening language.
8. Do not share personal information. This
includes, but is not limited to, Social Security
numbers, phone numbers, addresses, exact
birth dates.
9. Do not participate in cyber bullying. It is
considered an act of harassment and holds
spiritual, social, and legal consequences.
10.Online personal profiles containing churchowned images or text containing “Gates of
Heaven”, “GOH”, “GOHCLGI”, or similar is
prohibited. This protects the identity and
integrity of the church.
11.When promoting a church activity or
event on social media, it must be done by
sharing content a link to the content on the
church’s website or original post on social
media. This ensures a link to the content so
people can find us online.
12.GOH and its leadership reserves the right
to request images or content posted by
YYAD without permission to be removed
from the internet.
The YYAD Department’s governing staff reserves
the right to modify this policy at any time, while
also themselves adhering to the official Social
Media Guidelines for Staff.
Parents: Any content, including images, that appear on your child(ren)’s social media pages or
groups which are not sponsored by the church
are NOT within the purview of GOH or YYAD
Department.
Effective 03/19/2015
5. Be respectful. Always be fair and courteous,
being respectful to your audience, avoiding
hurtful comments. Do not share content without the owner’s knowledge or permission.
6. Do not use someone else’s identity or
account.
7. Remember that you represent Christ,
yourself, your family, and the church.
