Locals say that our hills are home to the
spirits of Mason and Bird’s timber mill
workers, who built a thriving community
in Orange Grove in the 1860’s.
Ghost Walks season is held between
October and March each year, with
events held on Friday evenings closest
to the full moon.
Find out for yourself when you experience the
City of Gosnells popular annual Ghost Walks.
Each tour night, four groups of approximately
25 walkers enjoy the entertainment.
Come along and enjoy a fully guided 5.5km
moon lit walk along a well-marked bush track
from the historic Victoria Dam to the Bickley
Reservoir in the Orange Grove Hills.
Walks are spaced at 15 minute intervals with
the first group departing at 7pm.
Each walk takes approximately three hours,
commencing with a comfortable 20 minute bus
ride from Hardinge Road picnic area to the
starting point at Victoria Dam car park.
Along the way, you will explore the history of
the Mason and Bird Timber Mill Company and
the bustling community that thrived in the area
over 150 years ago.
Meet the friendly ghost performers who
will tell you colourful tales of the many
characters that lived and worked in the
district at the time.
Beware of the convicts you may encounter
lingering near the railway bridge that still
stands today, for which they
provided much of the hard labour
during its construction.
Experience the local environment in
a new way with this exciting family
entertainment as you enjoy the
magnificent bush scenery and views
of the Perth City lights.
On return from your leisurely walk you can
enjoy a delicious supper, converse with the
volunteers who have returned from the track,
earn your Ticket of Leave and pick up some
brochures and information about local history
and coming events.
•• Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your
booked timeslot and sign in with a
City of Gosnells staff member.
•• Please bring sturdy shoes, a water bottle,
warm jacket and rain gear if necessary.
•• The tour meeting point is Hardinge Road
picnic area in Orange Grove. Approximately
20km south east of Perth central.
•• To find the car park, please follow the clearly
marked signs from Hardinge Road.
