Shire of Manjimup
• In addition to timber, the southern forests region
is WA’s biggest producer of fresh fruit and
vegetables including stone fruit, apples, dairy and
wine grapes and Manjimup produces 80 per cent
of Australia’s Black Truffle.
• The region’s array of international exports
include apples, mainly to India; and spring
water to Singapore, Saudi Arabia and India. More
recently green tea to Japan.
• The agricultural sector is valued at around $96
million per annum, making it the area’s most
significant economic driver and representing a
major opportunity to drive growth in the region.

as highly anticipated
annual events which
draw thousands to
the region
• The SuperTown initiative has given funding
for the Agricultural Expansion Project. A key
part of this is the creation of the Southern
Forests Food Council Inc.
• The Southern Forests Food Council Inc. is
instrumental in representing the interests of
local producers, culinary and agri-tourism
operators and furthering the region’s status as
the South West’s food bowl.
• In turn, this will enable the region to attract
further investment, create jobs, and ultimately
achieve recognition as a highly regarded
culinary tourism destination.
Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes
• Bridgetown is the centre of a productive
agricultural district
• The town was granted Historical Town status
by the National Trust of Australia in 2000 due
to its well preserved heritage buildings.
• Home to the Blues at Bridgetown festival
which has been running sucessfully for 10
years.
• Other Major annual events in the region
include the Cherry Harmony Festival, Truffle
Kerfuffle festival and the world-famous
Motocross 15000, plus many more.
