AP® Online Scores for Students

AP® Online Scores for Students
Overview for Educators
AP students will get their scores online in July.
®
Your role as a source of information about AP® scores for students is critical. Included in this kit — and online at
collegeboard.org/shareap — are resources for you to let students and their parents know how to get AP scores:
à Posters to hang up in AP classrooms
à A reproducible flyer for students
à Automated phone call and PA announcement scripts
We ask you to help all students — particularly those who have never taken an AP Exam before — to learn the
steps to check their scores. We appreciate your active participation in helping students access their scores
online in July. Remember, students will not receive scores in the mail.*
What steps must students take
to access their scores?
Fill in AP answer sheets carefully and consistently.
Either during your preadministration session or at exam time, instruct your students to
fill in their AP answer sheets carefully and consistently to avoid delays in score access.
Particularly important are name, date of birth, sex, mailing address, and email address.
Sign up for a College Board account at apscore.org.
Additional
resources are
available at
collegeboard.org/
shareap,
including:
Students will need a College Board account to access their scores online this July.
Encourage them to sign up before scores are released. If your students took an AP
exam last year or have ever registered for the SAT® or participated in other
College Board programs, they may already have a College Board account.
Ask them to confirm their username and password by signing in. Remind all
students to keep their username and password in a safe place.

emails to AP
students and
their parents
Students will need to remember their College Board account username and password,
plus their AP number, or their student identifier (student ID number) if they include it
on their AP answer sheet at exam time.
The score access schedule will be available at apscore.org around the time of
AP Exams. And, students will receive an email in July at the email address they put
on their AP answer sheet reminding them how and when to access their scores.

handouts to print

and white

Remind your students to visit apscore.org periodically for more information.
* Please work with students without computer access to help them identify a local public library for online access, or allow access to your
school computers during the score release window.
What are the best ways to let students know?
1. Suggestions to support account sign-up:
à Consider making a homework assignment of signing up for a College Board account;
encourage all students to hold on to their account username and password.
à Challenge all AP students in your school to sign up for their College Board accounts
by a chosen date.
à Create a contest between AP classes to see which class can get all its students signed up first.
2. Make sure students remember apscore.org — students can sign up for their College Board account
here and it’s where they will access their scores in July. This website also features important
updates and reminders.
3. Share the “How to Get Your AP Scores Online” video with students available at
collegeboard.org/shareap.
4. Encourage students to create their own video about how to get scores and post to your school website.
5. Use the PA announcements, automated telephone scripts, email templates, and website banner
ads provided in the toolkit (some pieces only available online) to remind students and parents of
how to access scores.
What can students do on the apscore.org website?
The apscore.org website is the only way students can access their scores. Students will be able to view,
download and print their score reports from the website, and they must use the system to send official
score reports to colleges, universities, and scholarship programs (beyond the free score report they
can send via their AP answer sheet).
Please encourage your students to explore apscore.org. It contains FAQs, and valuable information
about score reporting services, credit and placement policies, and how AP connects to majors
and careers.
Quick Tips to Help Students Remember Their AP Number*:
à Email their AP number and/or student ID number to themselves.
à Make a copy of the AP number card and give it to a parent or guardian.
à File the AP number card in a safe place and email themselves the location.
* Students should not share their AP number with other students.
