Description
This release is an updated version of the RDX Utility software, which is used with the RDX and RDX+
Removable Disk Backup Systems. Use the utility to:
•
Identify RDX and RDX+ Removable Disk Backup Systems attached to a server
•
Retrieve device and cartridge status information
•
Upgrade RDX and RDX+ Removable Disk Backup System firmware
•
Conduct diagnostic testing of the docking station and cartridge
•
Change the device mode between “Fixed Disk” and “Removable Disk” mode (applies to HPE
RDX USB 3.0 devices)

2.10 or later)

External RDX+ USB 3.0 Removable Disk Backup Systems (firmware version 2.27 or later)
NOTE: For information about “Fixed Disk” and “Removable Disk” modes, see the Help section
of the RDX Utility GUI.
On Windows host systems, Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends installing the RDX Utility
immediately after connecting the RDX device to help ensure that the eject function operates correctly
and the drive has maximum disk compatibility.

Installation instructions

Download the utility firmware from the RDX support website: www.hpe.com/support/rdx
Save the InstallHPE.exe and setup.exe files in the same directory and then run
InstallHPE.exe.
The installer will uninstall any existing version of the RDX Utility and then automatically run
setup.exe to install RDX Utility 2.36 (RDX Tools 1.59).
To run the RDX Utility for Windows, click Start > All Programs > RDX Utility > RDX Utility. For
instructions on using the RDX Utility, click Help. For further details see the RDX user guide found
on the documentation website. See “Related information” (page 5).
Determining current version
Navigate to the Help > About > Utility option in the HPE RDX menu.
