Museum Loan Collection Catalogue
This catalogue contains a list of subjects and examples of some of the items we
have available on each subject. In total, the Museum Loan Archive contains
many different artefacts, all of which are ideal for helping to bring your chosen
subject to life in the classroom.
When ordering a museum loan, please do so by subject giving as much
information as possible (for example, if the items are required for an art class or a
large school display). Schools’ Library Service will then supply you with relevant
material.
The museum loan collection contains 2,000 items and we could not possibly list
them all. Therefore, if you require a particular item as part of your loan please
contact SLS to check whether the item is in stock.
Artefacts include original objects, models, videos, posters, charts, slides &
cassettes.
Each loan consists of up to six items (depending on availability) and are usually
loaned for one term.
Points to Note
Please note that this catalogue is not an exhaustive listing of all items held within
the Collection. Instead, this catalogue is intended to provide an overview of the
kinds of subjects that we can cover when providing items from the Museum Loan
Collection.
Many of the archive items are genuine, historic artefacts. Museum Loans are
made to schools on the understanding that the items loaned will be treated
respectfully.
Whilst handling of the items is welcomed, please ensure that children/pupils are
aware of the importance of being careful with the items.
All items should be returned in any protective packaging that may have been
supplied with them, as lost boxes and cases are difficult and costly to replace.
Please also advise us directly if any items are knowingly damaged, so that we
can arrange for any repair work that may be necessary.
We thank you for your understanding in these matters.
