Terms & Conditions
1.
Entry to the competition is free and open to all Namibian
residents, wishing to bake an Apple Pie/Apfelstrudel.
2. This competition is open to all ages. If the entrant is
under 18 years old, they must obtain the permission of
their parent/guardian when entering the competition.
3. Entry forms need to be completed in full and signed,
or if younger than 18 years old, signed by a parent/
guardian, and submitted as follows: via email to
[email protected]; posted to Bank Windhoek
Marketing and Corporate Communication Services,
Bank Windhoek Apple Pie/Apfelstrudel Competition,
P.O. Box 15, Windhoek; or hand delivered to the 2nd
floor Capricorn House, 119 Independence Avenue.
4. The deadline for submission of entries, together with
your freshly baked homemade apple pies/apfelstrudels,
is 10 June 2015 between 11:00 and 16:00. The baked
items should be delivered at the Gondwana Coffee Shop
at the Show Grounds, in Windhoek. No late entries will
be accepted.
5. The judges’ decision for the winning pie/apfelstrudel is
final and no correspondence will be entered into.
6. Bake your best apple pie/apfelstrudel, using whichever
apple variety or combination of apples you like best.
Apples must be the main ingredient of the pies/strudels.
7. Apples should be the main ingredient, but juices and
other fruits, including dried fruit are allowed.
8. Entrants may enter more than one apple pie/apfelstrudel.
9. We recommend that pies are baked in disposable pans
only, as the organisers cannot take responsibility for any
lost baking pans.
10. The apple pies may not be smaller than 22 cm in diameter
(standard size disposable pans) and the apfelstrudels may

not be shorter than 30cm. A 9x5 cm card (business card
size) must be attached to your pie/strudel, containing
your name, surname and phone number. Your entry
form must also be attached.
Following judging, all the apple pies/apfelstrudels will be
sold to the public to raise funds for the Bank Windhoek
Cancer Apple Project.
If you wish to bake an apple pie/apfelstrudel and not
have it judged, we will still accept it and sell it to raise
money for the Cancer Apple Project.
The winning pie/strudel will be announced on 11 June
2015 at 17:00, at the Gondwana Coffee Shop, in
Windhoek.
The winner will receive N$10 000 for the winning pie/
strudel, of which the winner will receive N$5 000 and
the other N$5 000 will go to a charity of his/her choice.
If the winning pie/apfelstrudel comes from a school learner,
then his/her school will also receive N$5 000 in cash.
The judging criteria: the apple pie/apfelstrudel will be
scored on appearance, crust, filling and overall flavour
and taste.
You may submit your recipe on a separate sheet of paper
attached to your entry form. Please specify with each
recipe what type of apple was used in your pie/strudel.
The judges reserve the right to disqualify any pies that
do not adhere to the Apple Pie Competition terms and
conditions.
Bank Windhoek or Gondwana will not receive any
commission or percentage of the sales from the competition.
Bank Windhoek and Gondwana employees are not
allowed to enter.
