Discuss with students various painting processes, styles, sources of inspiration and subject matters of known large canvas artists. For example; Robert Rauschenberg, William DeKooning, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Charles Demuth and others. 2. Sharpen advanced student skills through experimentation, knowledge of paint properties, brush-painting tool techniques, surface treatments, special effects, Art Elements-perspective, etc. 3. Decide on the Orientation and scale of this large work. Gather materials needed. 4. Getting started; choose a subject and medium that you feel comfortable with…Be bold and confident and let the painting lead as it’s an opportunity to be yourself. 5. Sketches can be transferred to the canvas; they maybe in the simplest form, (A few lines/wash drawing), to painting direct in an intuitive way or a meticulous rendering. 6. Remember using large brushes first, paint from the background to the foreground, light colors to dark colors. 7. Evaluating the large canvas is and ongoing process…Step back to ensure that the colors, opacity, color build, surface textures and composition are achieved. 8.
