The New Netherland Project announces its 12th
Rensselaer'swyck Seminar, a one-day conference entitled "The Age of Leisler," to be held Saturday,
September 23, 1989, in the Orientation Center of the
New York State Museum in the Cultural Education
Center at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY.
Five speakers will present papers on the occasion
of the 300th anniversary of the takeover of the provin.:
cial government of New York by Jacob LeislerNew York's only governor executed for his efforts.
Included will be internationally-known historian John
M. Murrin, sponsored by the New York State Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution, speaking on the impact of the Leisler
Rebellion on the Constitution.
The seminar should be of special interest to
colonial American historians.
