Yes. Your account number will change. You will be notified by mail or you can also stop by the credit union to obtain your new account number. If you also have an existing account with IH Credit Union your Athena Credit Union account will be combined with your IH Credit Union account, and the account number you will use to access the combined account will be your IH Credit Union issued number. WHY HAS THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF ATHENA CREDIT UNION RECOMMENDED ENTERING INTO AN ALLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER EMPLOYEE CREDIT UNION? This alliance with International Harvester Employee Credit Union (IH Credit Union) will allow Athena Credit Union members many additional benefits & services. These include: 1. All member accounts will now be insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to $250,000 plus up to an additional $250,000 by American Share Insurance (ASI), your previous insurer. 2. Three (3) additional locations to better serve members in addition to the West First Street office you already are accustomed to. 3. Shared Branching where members can access their accounts at other participating credit unions throughout the nation. 4. Extended hours. The office will now be open on Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00 for your convenience. 5. After hours loan decision making and ability to speak with a live person regarding your account. 6. Mobile Banking. WHO IS INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER EMPLOYEE CREDIT UNION? IH Credit Union was formed in 1934 to serve the employees of International Harvester Company. Today, in addition to IH employees, they serve the City of Springfield, Springfield Regional Hospital, Springfield Police and Fire, Assurant and CodeBlue to name a few. They also recently expanded their membership to include anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Clark, Champaign, Montgomery, Madison, Greene, Logan, Union and Miami counties. IS THIS ALLIANCE WITH IH CREDIT UNION VOLUNTARY OR AS A RESULT OF FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES? This alliance with IH Credit Union was a result of careful analysis and a lengthy discussion as a way to better serve the membership and was not a result of any financial difficulties. Both credit unions are very highly rated and both have strong capital positions. The alliance was a decision made by both Boards of Directors to better serve the membership with many additional benefits & services as explained above. WHAT IS THE TIMELINE FOR THE ALLIANCE WITH IH CREDIT UNION? Business will remain essentially the same as it is now until a full data processing conversion occurs. Computer systems and all member account information will be completed effective April 2, 2013. At the start of business on that day, all additional benefits will begin, providing all members a wider array of products, services, additional branch locations, and many additional ATMs. The Athena Credit Union location will be closed on April 1, 2013 and reopen on April 2, 2013. WILL OUR CREDIT UNION NAME CHANGE? Yes. When the alliance is finalized Athena Credit Union will become part of IH Credit Union and begin using our name. Although the signage will change, you will still see many of the same employees that you have grown to know over the years. WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO USE THE ATHENA CREDIT UNION LOCATION ON WEST FIRST STREET AFTER THE ALLIANCE WITH IH CREDIT UNION? Absolutely! You can continue to use the Athena Credit Union location just as you have in the past. However, beginning April 2, 2013, you will also be able to use the 145 West High Street location, the 5000 Urbana Road location, or the 731 Scioto Street location in Urbana. This benefits all of us, as members of both credit unions can utilize any of these locations for their convenience. IS MY MONEY SAFE DURING THIS PROCESS? Again, Absolutely! Your money is safe during and after this alliance. Prior to this alliance your accounts were privately insured by ASI (American Share Insurance) up to $250,000. Beginning April 1, 2013, your account shall be insured to $250,000 by the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) plus an additional $250,000 by ASI (American Share Insurance), your previous insurer. HOW CAN I BE SURE MY ACCOUNTS TRANSFER TO IH CREDIT UNION CORRECTLY? We’ve taken great care to ensure that the transition will go smoothly. Don’t hesitate to consult Virtual Branch or our Anytime Info-line, our online and telephone account services that let you check your account balances or activity at any time day or night from a location that’s convenient for you. To sign up for Anytime Info-Line, dial 1-800-261-2188 and your initial PIN will be the last four digits of your social security number and enter your newly assigned IH Credit Union account number. You will then be prompted to change your PIN. To sign up for Virtual Branch, simply go to www.ihecu.com, select products and services, click on Virtual Branch, click on new applicants, then complete the form. You will receive an e-mail within 48 hours that will provide additional login instructions. And, of course, you can call or visit any of our convenient locations. WILL I RECEIVE A NEW IH CREDIT UNION ATM OR DEBIT/CHECK CARD? Yes, you will receive a new card with the IH Credit Union name on it around March 15, 2013. You can continue to use your Athena Credit Union cards until 11:59 P.M. on March 28, 2013. Your IHECU issued card may be used starting April 1, 2013. I HAVE A VISA CREDIT CARD WITH ATHENA CREDIT UNION. WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO USE IT ONCE THE ALLIANCE WITH IH CREDIT UNION TAKES PLACE? No. You will receive a new IH Credit Union Visa credit card around March 15, 2013 and you can begin using it immediately. The existing balance on your Athena card will be transferred to your new IHECU card and your Athena Credit card will become inactive on March 20, 2013. MAY I CONTINUE TO USE MY ATHENA CREDIT UNION CHECKS AFTER THE ALLIANCE? No. You will receive a new order of IH Credit Union checks with your new account number around March 15, 2013. You may begin using them on April 1, 2013 and destroy your Athena Credit Union checks. After this date your Athena Credit Union checks will be returned as “Account Closed”. Any future check orders you submit will be filled with IH Credit Union checks. If you get your checks from an outside company, please contact us so we can provide you the necessary information. HOW WILL THE ALLIANCE AFFECT MY LOANS? No. Your loans will not be affected by the alliance. Your rate, monthly payment and terms will remain the same. HOW SHOULD I CONTINUE TO PAY MY LOANS? You should continue to pay your loans as you normally would. If you make your payments by check, please continue to do so, simply make your check payable to International Harvester Employee Credit Union. Any automatic deductions will continue. WILL THERE BE ANY IMPACT ON MY DIRECT DEPOSIT OR AUTOMATIC PAYMENT TRANSACTIONS AFTER SYSTEM CONVERSION? There should be no interruptions to your direct deposit or automatic payments before or after the conversion. However, you should contact your direct deposit originators after April 2, 2013 to notify them of your updated account information, including IH Credit Union’s routing and transit number 242279068. This is especially important after you receive your new account number. ARE THERE ANY CHANGES ON THE DIVIDEND RATES AFTER THE ALLIANCE OF THE TWO CREDIT UNIONS? Share certificates of deposit (CDs) will remain at the current rate until the next maturity date. At maturity, they will NOT automatically renew. The balance will be transferred to your savings account. Please contact at IH Credit Union to purchase a new CD. Effective April 1, 2013, all other share dividend rates will be at IH Credit Union’s rates. HOW CAN I LEARN MORE ABOUT THE ALLIANCE PROCESS AND HOW IT WILL AFFECT ME? Enclosed in this Welcome Packet you will find a copy of IH Credit Union’s Privacy Policy, For Your Information brochure, Important Account Information, Shared Branching Information, and a Fee Schedule. We will also keep you updated on any changes both through your account statement and other communications throughout the year. You may also feel free to call us at 937-390-1800 or visit our website at www.ihecu.com. I HAVE AN ACCOUNT AT ATHENA CREDIT UNION AND IH CREDIT UNION. HOW WILL I BE AFFECTED? Your Athena Credit Union account will be combined with your IH Credit Union account, and the account number you will use to access the combined account will be your IH Credit Union issued number. HOW IS THE OVERDRAFT PROTECTION/COURTESY PAY PROGRAM GOING TO WORK AFTER THE ALLIANCE? If you are currently enrolled in Athena Credit Union’s overdraft protection/courtesy pay it will continue. If you do not wish to be enrolled in either program, please notify us in writing as soon as possible. AFTER THE ALLIANCE, CAN I CONTINUE TO USE THE A-PLUS LINE? No. You will automatically be enrolled in IH Credit Union’s Anytime Info-Line. The first time you call, your temporary PIN will be the last four digits of your Social Security Number and you will be required to change this PIN at that time. You will also use your newly assigned account number. Call 800- 261-2188 to access your account with the Anytime Info-Line and be sure to enter your new IH Credit Union account number. WHAT WILL BE THE HOURS OF OPERATION AFTER THE ALLIANCE? (Effective April 2, 2013) 5000 Urbana Road 145 West High Street 731 Scioto Street -Urbana 1427 W. Your Athena online banking will not be available after 11:59 a.m. on March 29, 2013. Once you have signed up for our FREE Virtual Branch you will also have Mobile Banking options. You can use our FREE Mobile Money from any cell phone or you can download our TouchBanking App which can be used with an Android or iPhone. IF I HAVE BILL PAY AT ATHENA CREDIT UNION WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? You will need to set up your payments through IH Credit Union Virtual Branch. Your bills will not be processed by Athena Credit Union after 11:59 a.m. on March 28, 2013. WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY INVESTMENT ACCOUNT (SHARE 25)? Your investment account with Athena Credit Union will be transferred to an IH Credit Union money market account (Share 33). This account only requires a $1,000 minimum balance and withdrawals must be at least $200.00. Dividends are paid from the date of deposit to the date of withdrawal with no penalty. IH Credit Union has several tiers, therefore, the higher the balance the higher the dividend rate. IF I HAVE E-STATEMENTS WITH ATHENA CREDIT UNION WILL I CONTINUE TO RECEIVE E-STATEMENTS? You will not receive an E-Statement from Athena Credit Union for the March 31, 2013 statement date. You will receive a paper statement in the mail. You will need to re-enroll in IH Credit Union EStatements following the completion of the alliance. If you do not re-enroll you will receive a paper statement in the mail. WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO MY ACCOUNT HISTORY AND PREVIOUS STATEMENTS AFTER THE ALLIANCE? No. You will not have any access to account history or previous statements prior to April 1, 2013.
