A curriculum designed for students to create awareness about Eating Disorders, its impact on the individual and how to modify the possible risk factors for this condition. The curriculum will focus on: 1. Building a positive self-esteem and a healthy body image 2. Healthy living including a well balanced diet and regular exercise 3. Awareness of Eating Disorders and possible complications what are eating disorders? Why is it important to prevent Eating Disorders? It is a group of conditions whereby the person experiences severe disturbances in eating behavior such as extreme restriction of food intake, extreme overeating or extreme distress about one’s body weight/ shape. Eating Disorders rank as the 3rd most common chronic illness in adolescent females worldwide. In Singapore, the most common age for onset of eating disorders is between 13 to 15 years old. Eating Disorders can have a significant impact on youth’s physical, psychological and social well-being.
