March 26th, 2017 This is the day that the LORD has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 Please greet those around you before the announcements begin. Welcome and Announcements Time of Greeting (Sharing God’s Welcome) * * * Moments of Meditation While the music is being played, quietly prepare your heart for worship. “My Shepherd, You supply my need, most holy is Your name; In pastures fresh You make me feed, beside the living stream. You bring my wand’ring spirit back, when I forsake Your ways; You lead me, for Your mercy’s sake, in paths of truth and grace.” Author: Isaac Watts (1719) My Shepherd Will Supply My Need Call to Worship *Hymn of Praise arr. by Hayes 1 Timothy 1:17 Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise Immortal, invisible, God only wise, in light inaccessible hid from our eyes, most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise. Unresting, unhasting and silent as light, nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might; Thy justice like mountains high soaring above Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love. No. 38 Great Father of glory, pure Father of light, Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight; all praise we would render, O help us to see `tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee! *Prayer of Invocation Scripture Reading Matthew 21:18-22 Pew Bible: Page 1532 Prayer of Confession Most merciful Father, we confess that we are sinners and in need of Your strengthening grace. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not delighted in Your law as we should; we have not meditated upon it day and night. Cleanse us from our sin; strengthen us from neglect of Your Word; kindle in us a fire to live according to Your truth. Help us to be holy as You are holy. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and be fruitful in righteousness, to the glory of Your holy name. Amen. Assurance of Pardoning Grace 35 Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. *Hymn of Thanksgiving Hallelujah! Thine the Glory No. 179 We praise Thee, O God! For the days of our youth, for the bright lamp that shineth – the Word of Thy truth. Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! we sing; Hallelujah! Thine the glory, our praise now we bring. We praise Thee, O God! for the Son of Thy love, for Jesus who died and is now gone above. Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! we sing; Hallelujah! Thine the glory, our praise now we bring. We praise Thee, O God! for Thy Spirit of light, who has shown us our Savior and scattered our night. Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! we sing; Hallelujah! Thine the glory, our praise now we bring. All glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain, who has borne all our sins and has cleansed ev’ry stain! Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! we sing; Hallelujah! Thine the glory, our praise now we bring. Please contact the church office or one of the deacons. Order Your Easter Lilies: The lilies will decorate the sanctuary on Easter Sunday morning and will be taken home afterwards. Order yours on the sign-up sheet in the narthex by next Sunday, April 2. Costs are $8.99 for single stem and $16.99 for double stem. Payment should be made out to Good Shepherd with “Easter Lily” written in the memo. Questions? Contact Sandy DeGroot. The class is scheduled for Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 pm starting on April 6 and running through June 1. Contact Jason Lash (724-561-3957) or Valerie (412-760-2458) with questions. This class is open to the public so invite your friends. This is a great evangelism opportunity that can help the community as well. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex. Seder Meal, Thursday, April 13: Please sign up for the Seder Meal which is scheduled for 6:00 pm the Thursday night before Easter.
