Moments of Meditation
While the music is being played, quietly prepare your heart for worship.
“My Shepherd, You supply my need, most holy is Your name;
In pastures fresh You make me feed, beside the living stream.
You bring my wand’ring spirit back, when I forsake Your ways;
You lead me, for Your mercy’s sake, in paths of truth and grace.”
Author: Isaac Watts (1719)
My Shepherd Will Supply My Need
Call to Worship
*Hymn of Praise
arr. by Hayes
1 Timothy 1:17
Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.
Unresting, unhasting and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.
No. 38
Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
all praise we would render, O help us to see
`tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee!
*Prayer of Invocation
Scripture Reading
Matthew 21:18-22

Prayer of Confession
Most merciful Father, we confess that we are sinners and in need of Your
strengthening grace. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by
what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not delighted in
Your law as we should; we have not meditated upon it day and night. Cleanse us
from our sin; strengthen us from neglect of Your Word; kindle in us a fire to live
according to Your truth. Help us to be holy as You are holy. For the sake of Your
Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we
may delight in Your will and be fruitful in righteousness, to the glory of Your holy
name. Amen.
Assurance of Pardoning Grace

Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or
persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For
your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the
present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything
else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
*Hymn of Thanksgiving
Hallelujah! Thine the Glory
No. 179
We praise Thee, O God! For the days of our youth,
for the bright lamp that shineth – the Word of Thy truth.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! we sing;
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, our praise now we bring.
We praise Thee, O God! for the Son of Thy love,
for Jesus who died and is now gone above.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! we sing;
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, our praise now we bring.
We praise Thee, O God! for Thy Spirit of light,
who has shown us our Savior and scattered our night.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! we sing;
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, our praise now we bring.
All glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain,
who has borne all our sins and has cleansed ev’ry stain!
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! we sing;
Hallelujah! Thine the glory, our praise now we bring.

*Hymn of Response
Trusting Jesus
No. 678
Simply trusting ev’ry day, trusting through a stormy way;
even when my faith is small, trusting Jesus, that is all.
Trusting as the moments fly, trusting as the days go by;
trusting Him whate’er befall, trusting Jesus, that is all.
Brightly does His Spirit shine into this poor heart of mine;
while He leads I cannot fall; trusting Jesus, that is all.
Trusting as the moments fly, trusting as the days go by;
trusting Him whate’er befall, trusting Jesus, that is all.
Singing if my way is clear, praying if the path be drear;
if in danger, for Him call; trusting Jesus, that is all.
Trusting as the moments fly, trusting as the days go by;
trusting Him whate’er befall, trusting Jesus, that is all.
Trusting Him while life shall last, trusting Him till earth be past;
till within the jasper wall, trusting Jesus, that is all.
Trusting as the moments fly, trusting as the days go by;
trusting Him whate’er befall, trusting Jesus, that is all.
*Benediction
*Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen, amen.

Announcements
 Young Artists: Colored bulletin covers for the Palm Sunday worship service should
be turned in today (there is a box on the table in the narthex).
 Fellowship Seating: To expand our fellowship area after worship, we will set up
several chairs at the back of the worship area where coffee is served. These will provide
extra seating in a quiet area for the adults. Please come and try them out.
 Children’s Choir Rehearsals: The Children’s Choir will sing on Palm Sunday. They
will practice at 12:00 pm for fifteen minutes after the service today and also on April 2.
All children ages 4th – 7th grade are invited to participate!
 Movie Night: Please see the schedule in the narthex for four Movie Nights to be held
this spring. This first will be held this Friday, March 31, 6:30 pm, at the Greenes’ home.
Come for the movie The Young Messiah, (2016), pizza, and discussion. Sign up on the
sheet in the narthex.
 Storage Space Needed: Dean and Sharon Lauer graciously agreed to store many
boxes of books and chairs, etc. when we did the education expansion. These items need to
be stored in another location as they will be selling their house and downsizing to a smaller
house here in Valparaiso in May. Does anyone have any extra storage space? Please
contact the church office or one of the deacons.
 Order Your Easter Lilies: The lilies will decorate the sanctuary on Easter Sunday
morning and will be taken home afterwards. Order yours on the sign-up sheet in the
narthex by next Sunday, April 2. Costs are $8.99 for single stem and $16.99 for double
stem. Payment should be made out to Good Shepherd with “Easter Lily” written in the
memo. Questions? Contact Sandy DeGroot.
 Committee Reports Due by April 9: Committee chairs or someone from your
committee should write up a report for the annual meeting booklet and email it to Sandy.
 Nine-Week Biblically-Based Money Management Class: Our church is hosting a
class developed by Dave Ramsey which will help you budget, pay off debt, and set future
financial goals! The class is scheduled for Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 pm
starting on April 6 and running through June 1. Please write your check of $75 for your
discounted enrollment kit to Good Shepherd and write Financial Peace University in the
memo. Contact Jason Lash (724-561-3957) or Valerie (412-760-2458) with questions.
This class is open to the public so invite your friends. This is a great evangelism
opportunity that can help the community as well. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex.
 Seder Meal, Thursday, April 13: Please sign up for the Seder Meal which is
scheduled for 6:00 pm the Thursday night before Easter. This is the traditional Jewish
Passover meal with Christian teaching showing that Christ is our Passover Lamb. This is a
wonderful opportunity for learning and worship and also to invite friends outside the
church to join you. Families please choose two recipes to bring. Couples and singles
choose one recipe. (Recipes are on the table with the sign-up sheet.) Also bring red wine
or grape juice and your own wine/juice glasses for each family member. The main course
meat will be prepared and we are asking for donation of $2/adults and $1/children to cover
the costs. Please give money for this to Denise O'Neal.
 Ladies Bible Study: A new study has begun on the epistles of I and II Peter.
Newcomers are always welcome! The ladies Bible study meets on Wednesdays from 9:3011 am. If you have questions please see Lucy Hrivnak or Valerie Lash. (The class will not
meet this Wednesday or April 12.)
 Community Garden: There is a need for someone to coordinate the community
garden. If you are interested, please talk to one of the elders.
 By The Hand Annual Fundraiser: Save the date of Thursday, April 20, for this
inspiring event which will be held at Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. More details to
follow. If you have questions, contact Lucy Hrivnak or Alice Lindborg.
