BOAT RAMP PERMIT INFORMATION

The Yorke Peninsula Council is responsible for the installation and maintenance of all improvements
at our launching facilities. To make the facilities easier and safer to use, Council endeavours to keep
these improvements as clean and up to date as possible.
During the 2015/2016 financial year, Council spent in excess of $150,000 on the maintenance of the
boat ramps. Many boat owners believe that Council receives a portion of the facilities levy that they
pay to the State Government when they register their boat, to assist with maintaining our boat ramps
and surrounds. Unfortunately, this is not the case, as the monies collected from this levy are
administered by the South Australian Boating Facility Advisory Committee (SABFAC), who do not
allocate funds to Council for boat ramp maintenance.
BOAT LAUNCHING FACILITIES
Council provides 34 Boat launching facilities on Yorke Peninsula, and only eight require the payment
of a fee prior to launching. These facilities are situated at Ardrossan, Black Point, Port Vincent, Port
Vincent Foreshore (boat ramp) Stansbury, Edithburgh, Point Turton and Port Victoria. A daily ticket
can be purchased to launch a boat from any of these locations, while monthly or annual permits can
be purchased from a number of locations (listed overleaf).
Anyone launching a boat from these facilities without first paying may be issued an Expiation Notice
with a fee of $100.
NEW PERMITS
As of 1 July 2013, Council has not issued six month launch permits. Council is now offering a one
month permit for $30 to cater for short term visitors, with the annual permit now available to be
purchased at a pro rata rate. The annual permit can be purchased at any time throughout the year,
with the fee calculated on the number of months remaining in the financial year (including the month
in which the permit is purchased).
