Fourth Grade
Biography of the NAACP
This essay will be graded as a project for Social Studies. It must be at
least five paragraphs. The final copy of this essay should be typed.
Projects may be turned in early, but the final copy is due no later than
Wednesday, February 22nd. For each day late, five points will be taken
off the final grade. The rubric for the assignment is on the back of
this sheet. There are three parts to this project: research notes, a
draft, and the final copy. Students will be creating a cover sheet in
computer science.
Research notes due: Wednesday, February 8th
Handwritten draft due: Wednesday, February 15th
Typed final copy due: Wednesday, February 22nd
Essay should be organized by the following:
Paragraph 1:
o What do the letters NAACP stand for?
o What year was the organization started?
o What is the organization famous for?
Paragraph 2:
o Why was this organization formed?
Paragraph 3:
o Why is the organization important?
Paragraph 4:
o What would the world be without the NAACP?
Paragraph 5:
o Reflect on the organization- What are your thoughts?
*Students are expected to have a minimum of 4-5 complete sentences in each
paragraph.
