Goal #3: Define and Identify the characteristics that all living things have Your task: 1. Use one of the half pieces of scrap paper at the table. 2. Label the page with the letters A-D A. B. C. D. 3. For each of the pictures at this station (A-D), choose which characteristic of life fits best, and write it next to the appropriate letter. If you don’t remember the four characteristics that all living things have, please look in your book (Section 1.1) or in your packet for more information. 4. Next to each characteristic, describe how you made your choice for each picture. You could: I. Discuss how something about the picture helped you. II. How your prior knowledge helped you. III. How the process of elimination helped you. 5. Discuss your answers with a partner at your table. 6. With a partner, choose one to two pictures that could fit into a category other than what you had originally described. Discuss why these pictures could fit with one of the other characteristics of living things.
