Secret Crushes
The PDA Chronicles
By Jonah Thomas
P.D.A (public displays of affection) has been taking over Evergreen,
including hugging, holding hands, and even some smooching. This makes
quite a few people uncomfortable. So what can we do to tone down the PDA?
First off, there is time to show your feelings to someone outside of school
like the weekends or after school. Kissing someone in the middle of the hall
can make a lot of people uncomfortable, and it can make you late to class if
you are smooching in between class periods.
“It makes me feel uncomfortable because people will be getting it on right
in front of me,” said 9th grader Maggie Fuhriman.
The problem with banning PDA at school is that it can cause some
controversies; some people complain that it takes away one’s right to express
love. However, the school asks us to keep in mind the surroundings; junior
high is not a good place to get affectionate. The reality is that it is very
awkward and makes people want to get away from it.
“Yoda One for
Me”
Chocolates or
Flowers?

Flirting is hard for some people.
If you want to be A1 at flirting, this
article is for you!
Some pick-up lines are lame, but
here, we provide the best!
“On a scale of 1 to 10, you’re a 9.
I’m the 1 you need.”
“If I had a nickel every time I saw
someone as beautiful as you, then I’d
have five cents.”
“Is your last name Campbell? Cause
you’re mm mm good!”
“If you were a new hamburger
at McDonald’s, you would be
McGorgeous.”
“You’re hotter than the bottom of my
laptop.”
“I’m no organ donor, but I’d be
happy to give you my heart.”
“If I were a cat, I’d spend all nine
lives with you.”
“If you were a basketball, I’d never
shoot. [Why?] Because I’d always
miss you.”
“Hey, tie your shoes! I don’t want
you falling for anybody else.”
“You’re so fine, I wish I could plant
you and grow a whole field of you!”
“What time do you have to be back
in heaven?”
“Was your father an alien? Because
there is nothing else like you on
Earth.”
“Were you in Boy/Girl Scouts?
Because you sure have tied my heart
in a knot!”

We all want a gift from that
special someone around this time
of year, don’t we? The real debate
is which gift we would prefer from
that lovely crush. Receiving flowers
is so kind and quite beautiful,
although… these roses will die
within the next week. You don’t
want to keep filling them up with
water just to keep the beauty.
The best gift of all is chocolates!
You can eat these delicious goodies
while watching a binge-worthy
Netflix series.
On the flip side, why would roses
be better than chocolate? Roses give
off the pretty smell across the room
and bright colors without giving you
a billion calories! Also, they don’t
make you crave more and more
chocolate.
I would love to receive either,
because of course it is the thought
from your special someone that
counts. However, I could eat tasty
chocolate for hours. This Valentine’s
day, will you get your special
someone flowers…or chocolate?
Or will you decide to get them
something completely different?
Stay smooth and traditional with
the flowers and chocolate or
decide to get this special someone
something that reminds you of him/
her. Whatever you do, have a Happy
Valentine’s Day!
