friends to help them get started caring for their newborn.
There are others that do not have the resources or support
network to help with these expensive items. These packs are
distributed through MO agencies that have programs to
support these young mothers and her child with classes on
caring for a newborn, parenting and support with other
young mothers.

Family Food Pack - Pack Value $25.00
Having enough food each week is a struggle for many
families. Households that receive assistance through
SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program)
receive about 25% of what is needed to feed their family.
Numerous families have adults working fulltime or several part time jobs and earn too much to qualify for SNAP
but do not have enough funds to feed the family, three
nutritious meals a day. This food box helps to fill a bit of
the hunger gap. Remember to choose the most
nutritious options when selecting items for the Family
Food Pack.

Personal Hygiene Pack - Pack Value $ 20.00
Imagine having a cold but no tissue to blow your nose. While
a cloth handkerchief is an option the more sanitary option is
for disposable tissues to keep from passing on the germs to
other family members. Paper products cannot be purchased
with SNAP benefits. These paper products are a much
needed product in all households. The packs are distributed
to food pantries and shelters across the state of Missouri.
Good hygiene and dental health are key to keeping a family
healthy and in school or work. When the family wage earner
becomes ill or children are home sick from school, this
usually means the family income is jeopardized. These are
items that cannot be purchased with SNAP (Supplemental
Nutritional Assistance Program) funds. These are also
much needed items in case of a disaster in the state where
families are displaced living in shelters.

A good breakfast each morning helps students to have clear
heads and attention to lessons. Having supplies is just as
important. These packs are distributed through Missouri
agencies and often given to children arriving at a new
school. Homeless families and children are often a hidden
minority in the school system. Children can attend several
new schools in one year as parents move looking for work or
to be closer to family or friends.

Tooth Decay is the #1 infectious disease in children and it
disproportionately affects disadvantaged and underserved
communities, according to National Institutes of Health.
The Student Dental Pack includes toothbrushes for
children and parents and is distributed through MO
agencies to families as part of dental hygiene education
opportunities at some sights.

These packs are given to children who are in Foster Care.
All that is familiar is taken from these children often they
arrive with nothing. Having something that you can call your
own is very important when you have been removed from
your home, family and friends. These packs are distributed
to Division of Social Services Youth Division and to agencies
that work with such as CASA (Court Appointed Special
Advocate).

packs in the box. These kits are used by children between the ages of 12 to 18 who have experienced
a crisis and are being placed in state care.
Women’s Prison Pack - Pack Value $ 9.00
The hygiene items in this pack will be given to the women in the Vandalia Prison and the Chillicothe facilities. There are approximately 3,000 women housed in the MO prison system. The women must purchase their own shampoo, deodorant and toothpaste through the prison store. However most women don’t have money to purchase any of these items. The Department of
Corrections has very strict rules about what can be given. So we need to carefully check that none of the products contain alcohol. Often a person ends up in prison because of choices they have made. A bad choice can mean that there are tough consequences. While we and the women understand that they loose certain privileges. Our faith teachings tell us that we want to
show them the love and compassion that God has for everyone.
