Numerous families have adults working fulltime or several part time jobs and earn too much to qualify for SNAP but do not have enough funds to feed the family, three nutritious meals a day. This food box helps to fill a bit of the hunger gap. However most women don’t have money to purchase any of these items. The Department of Corrections has very strict rules about what can be given. So we need to carefully check that none of the products contain alcohol. Often a person ends up in prison because of choices they have made. A bad choice can mean that there are tough consequences. While we and the women understand that they loose certain privileges.
