What to send:
How to prepare the tooth for a Lava Plus Restoration:
To receive a Lava Ultimate restoration the laboratory will require you
to send a digitally designed file from an open or affiliated scanner
software with reference to shade to be completed and any special
requirements clearly noted. Core3dcentres® can give you advice on
the best scanners currently available and guide your first steps into the
digital workflow. Traditional Impressions can also be accepted with an
upper and lower model with bite registration and clear instructions of
what has to be manufactured and the appropriate shade.
About Lava Ultimate:
Lava Ultimate restorative is the world’s first resin nano ceramic
restorative material. Nano technology and proprietary heat treatment
give it a composition that’s different from light-cured or self-cured
composites, resulting in unique properties:
n High flexural strength (200 MPa) adds durability to posterior
restoration
n Excellent wear resistance
n Brilliant and long-lasting polish
n Excellent stain resistance for colour stability
Onlay
Inlay
Do:
n Ensure that inlays and onlays have an internal retentive element
n All internal edges and line angles should be rounded
n Non-bevelled shoulder finish lines are recommended
n Mechanically clean any contamination from the tooth prep and rinse
with a strong stream of water
n Slightly air dry
Don’t:
n Do not undercut
n Do not use any chemical agents after preparation
n Do not use laser etching
n Do not use eugenol cement for cementation of temporary restoration
What to use to attach to natural tooth:
Lava Ultimate restorations must be bonded with an adhesive resin cement.
3M ESPE recommends RelyX™ Ultimate Adhesive Resin Cement with
Scotchbond™ Universal Adhesive—the primer and adhesive are in one
bottle. The flexibility of this system enables you to etch the tooth preparation
using a self-etch, selective-etch or a total-etch technique all with one system.
How to adjust if required:
As this restoration is digitally created and manufactured adjustments should
be minimal if well designed. However this may occur due to inaccuracies in
the impression and bite registration. Should this be required a high speed
hand piece with a diamond cutter should be used with water spray to reduce
over heating of the restoration. Most importantly the restoration should be
re-polished in areas of adjustment with a rubber wheel to reduce wear on
opposing dentition. Your local Core3dcentres can provide an adjustment kit
for this purpose.
