About sculpture network
sculpture network is Europe’s platform for contemporary sculpture, a non-profit organisation
for the support, encouragement and promotion of contemporary sculpture. Adhering to its
motto “stand up for sculpture!” it backs interdisciplinary dialogue and exchange among artists,
culture organizations, professionals and friends of the arts, throughout Europe.
Interdisciplinary and international networking
sculpture network has built numerous bridges across disciplines and countries, connecting
Contemporary Sculpture throughout Europe. The organization’s international nature is
essential to this success. Artists, art mediators, curators, gallery owners, universities,
institutions, museums, foundations, collectors, patrons and art lovers from over 40 countries,
constitute the organization’s membership and data base. Over 25 live events per year all over
Europe provide opportunities for professionals and friends of arts to meet, network, discuss
and appreciate sculpture. A team of Coordinators in various countries organise local meetings,
generate contacts and help members with enquiries. The organization is run from HQ in
Munich and satellite offices around Europe.
History
The idea of sculpture network stemmed from the sculptor Hartmut Stielow, who had
experienced the value of such an association, while being a Board Member of the International
Sculpture Centre in the USA. In 2004, with the support of Ralf Kirberg, a fervent art patron,
sculpture network was officially registered in Berlin and launched in Europe. In the ensuing
years organizing events, services and networking for professionals and friends of arts became
the association’s core activity.
Since it’s founding, sculpture network has achieved many milestones, including a fifth
anniversary celebration at the bbk studios in Berlin and a tenth International Forum at the
Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. Meanwhile, at over 200 events at art venues throughout
Europe, renowned experts and artists have shared their knowledge with a wide audience.
A myriad of sculpture places have been visited and awareness and appreciation of threedimensional art has been achieved.
sculpture network Events
sculpture network currently organizes over 25 events per year, which take place all over
Europe: an annual International Forum; local Dialogues; sculpture trips and an annual Europewide Sculpture Day which is hosted at over 40 venues. Audiences vary from 10 to 150 people
at any one event.
sculpture network Services
The sculpture network portfolio of on line services are hosted on a user friendly website. It is
an information source on today’s contemporary sculpture and includes: a What’s on calendar
of sculpture–related events in Europe, a monthly newsletter on Europe’s sculpture scene
published in English, German and Spanish, a comprehensive list of Europe’s sculpture parks,
trails and other specialised venues, over 700 artists’ portfolios, a suppliers data base,
exhibition reviews and book recommendations.
Proven track record
Since 2004, sculpture network has organised over 200 live events in 20 countries, created an
extensive contact database of experts and artists and an expanding member group covering
over 40 countries. This continuous growth proves a powerful interest in contemporary
sculpture and the organization’s commitment to this art.

Statements by Members
For the past three years sculpture network has been the basis for me for the regular exchange
of experiences and information. I could not imagine a better platform. Above all, the relaxed
atmosphere and friendliness is impressive.
Eberhard Hauff (friend of the arts) www.zuzuku.de
sculpture network has provided me with numerous new and important international contacts
and friends. Thanks to this caring and generous organisation, supported by enthusiastic
people, I have had many a delightful experience. The interesting events and art studio visits,
as well as the Experiences (art travels) and the International Forums were unique
experiences. sculpture network is the best that I have encountered in my career as an artist.
Andrea Malar (artist)
Collaboration among art creators, friends, mediators and galleries is most important; symposia
are valuable, commissions essential – sculpture network provides internationality – the
exchange of ideas is invigorating.
Hanns Egon Wörlen†, Museum Moderner Kunst, Foundation Wörlen, Passau, Germany
An informative and enthusiastic forum for sculpture in the 21st century. Indispensable for an
exchange on contemporary sculpture between the artist, his work and the institution.
Dr. Renate Goldmann Director of Museum of the City of Düren
sculpture network is an honourable platform, continually expanding and borne by great
enthusiasm. With its increasing number of members this organisation, which has meanwhile
become an institution, has created a network in which not only professional information is
exchanged, but also personal cooperation encouraged and unpretentious contact in the best
of form adhered to between members.
