2015 Autumn Session PD Workshop on Overseas Chinese Language Teaching
Kicked off at CIT
On October 10 to 11, 2015, the 2015 Autumn Session Professional Development Workshop (PD) on Overseas Chinese Language Teaching, launched by Confucius Institute at Troy University (CIT), kicked off.
In the two-day’s workshop, Mr. Qiang Chen, veteran
teacher from a public school in North Carolina, STARTALK assessment expert and consultant, AP program
consultant, National Board Certified language teacher,
as the keynote speaker, has shared his valuable experience gained from years of teaching. He illustrated the
theme how to achieve effective classroom teaching from
different respects, including teaching management,
classroom management, teaching plan writing, etc.
Ms. Jiaqi Zhang, who has over 20 years’ Chinese
language teaching experience, demonstrated many effective classroom activities in teaching Chinese language to
children and teenagers, which are timely helpful.
Dr. Iris Xu’s lecture, entitled Overseas Chinese language Teaching and Teacher Training, highlighted the
differences between domestic and oversea Chinese language teaching.
Dr. Rui Feng mentioned in his lecture the importance of updating personal resume in English, and
offered suggestion on how to prepare a better resume,
which is really beneficial to all teachers especially the
new teachers of Confucius Institute.
This workshop is really meaningful and beneficial
to all CIT teachers.

Attended the 44th National Shrimp Festival to Promote Chinese Culture
On
the 7th-11th October, 2015, the Confucius
Institute at Troy University (CIT) went to Gulf
Shores, Al to attend the 44th National Shrimp
Festival to promote Chinese culture. The total
enquiries summed up to over 3,000 during the
event.
Vacancies Provided and Chinese Promoted by CIT at Local Career Fair
On
Oct. 1st, 2015, at Troy Career Fair,
CIT staff introduced to the newly grads the
great demand for talents in China and job
opportunities that require Chinese language
competence. Many applicants expressed that
learning Chinese would indeed give them an
edge on job market.

Montgomery Focus:Debut of Tea Talk on CIT Montgomery Campus
On October 13 and 14, 2105, the Chinese Culture Club of CIT presented October’s feast—Tea
Talk, in Bartlett Hall, on Montgomery Campus
of Troy University and the conference room of E
L Lowder Library, which is also the first round
of Tea Talk lectures on CIT Montgomery campus.The Tea Ceremony presented by audiences
is the most delightful and meaningful part in Tea
Talk. It is so enjoyable to watch local Americans
trying very carefully to handle the tiny teacups
and it is more enjoyable to see their smiling faces when they completed all the procedures by
themselves.
Fall 2015 Chinese Culture and Language Workshop Launched at Dothan Westgate Library
On Oct. 13th, 2015, the Confucius Institute at Troy University CIT) on Dothan campus held the first
Chinese culture and language workshop at Westgate Library. The local library showed great interest in
the cooperation with CIT and has provided all convenience during the whole process.

On Oct. 8, CIT held its Chinese Corner on Chinese
knotting. Students all got their own handicrafts.
On Oct. 15, a lecture on tourism in Sichuan was
held at CIT Chinese Corner!

CIT Montgomery Campus will deliver a lecture on Martial Arts at EL Lowder Regional Library.
