Year 3 - Ancient Egypt - Homework Activities.
Geography
Create a fact file about the River Nile. Include:
Design
Ancient Egyptians used shadufs to lift water
out of the Nile. They are still used in Egypt
today. Find out what a shaduf is, and have a go
at making a model of one. Sticks, blu-tack, and
small plastic yoghurt pots are perfect materials
for this activity.
History
 Find out fascinating facts about ancient
Egypt, and use these facts to write your
own multiple choice quiz questions. You
can bring these into school and test us
on our knowledge of ancient Egypt.
Remember to use question marks!
 Research and write about 2 of the Gods
of ancient Egypt.
Art and Design
 Make some of your own Egyptian
jewellery.
 Use a pebble to paint and design your own
scarab beetle.
 Make a mask or headdress for one of the
Egyptian gods or goddesses.
Write like an Egyptian!
Use hieroglyphs to write your name. If you’re
feeling really confident you could then write a
secret message for me to solve!
Literacy
 Create a newspaper report about
Howard Carter’s discovery of
Tutankhamen’s tomb.
 Write a list of questions that you would
like to ask a pharaoh.
 Using the words ‘Ancient Egypt’ write an
acrostic poem.
Ancient Maths!
Find out how the ancient Egyptians wrote
numbers and create some sums for others to
solve.
Design
 Make a simple board game based around
ancient Egypt.
 Make an Egyptian mummy.
Cooking
Make some Egyptian honey cake and bring some
in to share with your classmates:

Create your own non-fiction book about ancient
Egypt. Think about the River Nile, the Pyramids,
the Gods, food and drink, their clothing and
their houses.

Create a word-search or crossword about

class library based on an Egyptian adventure.
Read it and write a book review.
