My research interests encompass health equity and social determinants of reproductive health and
infectious diseases. My duties include
- Research activities
 Conducting the anthropometric baseline assessment to evaluate the impact of the Conditional
Cash Transfer (CCT) program on mother and child health in Upper Egypt. The assessment
served as a pretest for measuring the impact of poverty alleviation program on maternal and child
health in 65 villages in Sohag and Assuit governorates.
 Studying and Monitoring Socioeconomic Inequities in Maternal Health Indicators betwen19922008.
 Assessing the "Inequalities in HIV knowledge among Egyptian population and decomposing the
determinants of such inequalities".
 Conducting content analysis to evaluate the equity dimension in health policies of the Arab
countries.
 Assisting in the conduction of a study to evaluate "Reproductive Health Inequalities among Youth in
Deprived Urban Areas".
 Assisting in the development of set of health equity indicators for the Regional Public Health
Observatory for Health equity (SRC - WHO/EMRO joint project).
 Assisting in the development of a proposal to start the Health Policy and Economics Master
Program (HPEP) at AUC.
 Assisting in research activities related to the projects tackling fertility plateau in Egypt, Jordan,
and Syria.

Guiding Policy and Evaluation with Special Application to Population and Health" May -July 2009,
