Hikers: July- Central Question: Why should I obey God?
Theme: Obey God! (Noah)
Memory Verse: Acts 5:29 We must Obey God!
Bible Passage: Genesis 6:9-9:17 Noah Obeyed!
Key Point: Obey means to do what you are told. Noah obeyed God! God told Noah to build a big boat called
an ark and Noah OBEYED! God protected Noah because he obeyed. We must obey God too! Noah was
blessed by God because he obeyed. God will bless us too if we obey God!
Class Schedule – to be done each week
Free Play
Worship – Use the instruments in the metal cabinet and put praise music on the cd player.
Snack – Children can have two small helpings of goldfish (use the snack scoop) and water.
Lesson – Teach the lesson while the children are eating snack. They are already sitting and ready to
listen! See the weekly sheets attached for each lesson.
Transition Activity – As the children finish snack invite them to join you on the floor to do animal
lacing cards.
Game - Use the Trail Guide to play “Yes, Teacher” or “Animal Hunt”.
Craft –
Week 1: Color sheet
Week 2: Glue squares of tissue paper to the rainbow coloring sheet
Week 3: Color Sheet
Week 4: Glue strips of brown paper to the ark.
Hiker Challenge –
Week 1: Use the play dough to make a dog.

Mighty Mouse: Let’s say the memory verse together. (Shine the flashlight on the memory verse and encourage the children to

God had good plans for Noah. When Noah obeyed God by building the ark his family was saved. If you should
obey your mom when she asks you to put on your coat, wave your arms. Yes, you should obey. Your mom
has a good plan for you. She wants you to be warm when it is cold. If you should obey when your grandma
asks you to eat your vegetables, touch your nose. Yes, you should obey. Your grandma has a good plan for
you. She wants you to be healthy. It’s the same with God. We obey because God has good plans for us.
Turn on the flashlight and say the memory verse with the kids. Acts 5:29 “We must obey God!”


My name is Hannah. I got a new puppy! His name is Patches. Today I took him for a walk on the trail in the woods. He
kept trying to run and pulling on the leash. It was really hard to keep up with him. Daddy says we’ll have to take him to
obedience class. Then he will walk nicely on the leash without pulling. That will be better for both of us. Daddy said that’s
why God wants me to obey. When I obey it is nicer for me and for God. What I want to know is this: What does the Bible
say about obeying God?

told me that even when you know how to swim the water can be dangerous. He said I had to obey or we couldn’t go on the
boat. What I want to know is this: Why does the Bible say I should obey?
