There is no change for those who do not have direct deposit. How to Read Your New On-line Earnings Statement 1 2 • Beginning July 9, 2004, you can view or print out your earning statement by clicking on “View Paycheck” in the self-service menu in the myUFL portal at any time and any place. 3 • You can use the links in your on-line earnings statement to view a different payment or see previous paychecks. (Note: Your compensation history begins as of July 1, 2004 since it is based only on the transactions entered into the new myUFL systems.) 4 About this Sample View Paycheck This View Paycheck example is for the pay period ending July 15, 2004, which will have a check date of July 23, 2004. The sample employee is USPS, paid hourly, and eligible for a one-day personal holiday, special compensatory leave and overtime compensation. About Your 2004 W-2 During this transition year, you will receive two W-2 forms for 2004. One will be issued by the State of Florida for wages paid prior to July 1, 2004. One will be issued by the University for wages paid after June 30, 2004. In your earnings statement (as in this sample), the YTD amounts for 2004 will include only the wages, deductions, taxes and employer paid benefits for checks paid by UF beginning July 1, 2004. Attention: AEF Employees If you currently receive a separate AEF check processed by ADP, the wages and taxes for checks processed by ADP will be included in the YTD amounts on the View Paycheck. You will receive a W-2 from the State of Florida for wages paid by the State in 2004 prior to July 1, 2004. The 2004 W-2 that you receive from the University will include both the wages processed by ADP prior to July 1, 2004 and the combined UF and AEF wages paid after June 30, 2004 by the University of Florida using PeopleSoft. Understanding Your First On-line Earnings Statement Taxes The line item amount in the Year-to-Date (YTD) for Fed OASDI/EE column is the sum of Social Security taxes withheld by the Bureau of State Payrolls (BOSP) and Social Security (OASDI) taxes withheld from the first check produced in PeopleSoft. The total in the YTD column accurately does not include the Social Security taxes withheld by the BOSP. We are aware of this problem and are working to correct this for the paycheck dated July 23, 2004. The calculation of your Social Security (OASDI) taxes has not been increased or decreased as a result of this problem. The amount of the FSA (in this example, the medical flexible spending account or Medical FS) withheld by the BOSP is not included in the YTD column. We are aware of this problem and are working to correct this for the paycheck dated July 23, 2004. The calculation of your FSA(s) has not been increased or decreased as a result of this problem. This is NOT the OASDI (social security) and Medicare matching paid by UF. The matching amounts are not included in the Employer Paid Benefits section since these are employer paid taxes rather than benefits. The description FICA ETS is misleading and will be changed in the future. FICA ETS is FICA Employer Assessment. By Florida Statute, the amount of money saved by the employer resulting from before-tax deductions (e.g. health insurance) must be paid to the State by UF. The assessment paid by UF does not affect the employee’s savings from before-tax deductions.
