Craig M. Coopersmith, MD Emory University School of Medicine Craig Coopersmith, MD is Professor of Surgery and Director of the Surgical/Transplant ICU at Emory University. He is the president of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (will be pastpresident in 2/16) and a former council member of the Shock Society. His laboratory focuses on the role of gut integrity in sepsis. Along with close collaborator Mandy Ford, PhD, Dr. Coopersmith is also investigating the role of co-morbidities in the pathophysiology of sepsis (specifically cancer and chronic alcohol use) as well as the co-inhibitory marker 2B4 in sepsis.
