“Serving in His Steps”
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do
it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be
praised through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 4:10-11
Pastor Bangert led chapel this week and asked the students, “Is life fair?” The obvious answer is an
emphatic “NO”! Some people get sick and some people don‟t – is that fair? Some students get As on their
report card without trying and some study much and can‟t get As – is that fair? Pastor then asked the
students if God is fair. In a sense, God is not. He sent His own innocent Son to the cross instead of us. For
our sin and disobedience, we deserved nothing but to be separated from God – that would have been fair!
This Thanksgiving, we truly have something to be thankful for – that God is not fair, but rather loving.
Thank you to Evie Ince, Dori Key, and Keena Williams who provided special music during the chapel
service. Evie played the piano for the song, “For the Beauty of the Earth” while Dori and Keena sang!
Chapel next week will be on Monday, November 29th at 8:00 am. Mrs. Harles will be here on behalf of
the Alaska Mission Team to share how our support has made a difference in the lives of people they serve.
The Parade of Lights is scheduled for Friday, November 26th. Immanuel Lutheran will be represented in
the parade again this year and will be handing out another special gift to the crowds! We are looking for
families that are willing to walk in the parade and represent our school. If you and your children are
interested, please meet in the church parking lot at 5:00 pm.
School will be closed on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving break. Classes will resume on Monday,
November 29th. We pray that you have a restful and relaxing break spending time with family and friends!
Why Fight the Crowds on Black Friday? Do your shopping online! GoodShop.com is an online
shopping mall which donates up to 30 percent of each purchase to ILS – all while taking advantage of
online Black Friday deals! Hundreds of stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, eBay, Barnes &
Noble, and Macy‟s have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you'll be supporting
ILS! Visit the above web link or call the school office for more information. Once you are on the
GoodSearch web page you can just scroll down to GoodShop, click on the store at which you wish to shop,
and if you have registered ILS as your recipient the donation will automatically be credited to our school.
Mark your calendars to help us prepare the mailing of solicitation letters for the Dinner Auction. We
will meet in the narthex at 8:00 on Tuesday, November 30th. This is a very simple task of folding letters
and stuffing, labeling, and stamping the envelopes, but it goes much faster with more hands. Thanks in
advance for your help in making our Dinner Auction a huge success.

How well do you know your child‟s teacher? The School Welfare committee recently sent home a booklet
titled, “Getting To Know Our Immanuel Staff” to each family by way of their youngest child. There are
a few copies still available through the school office if needed. We hope that you enjoy reading through the
fun facts about our school and church staff members!
Save the Date! Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) will be hosting a babysitting night on Saturday,
December 11th from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. Mothers in the MOPS group will watch your children (babies

Love at Christmas”, is based on the hymn, "God Loves Me Dearly" and built around the
familiar account of the Christmas story found in Luke.
ILS received another thank you note from a resident at Meramec Bluffs:
“Dear friends,
Never in my 96 years have I seen a more inspiring and well-trained group of children than those we saw at
Meramec Bluffs on November 12th. You must have outstanding, dedicated teachers to instill such
confidence in the children. Thank you so much for coming and presenting „United We Stand – A Veteran‟s
Day Celebration‟. Your program renewed our hope in the future! We hope you will come back soon.”
Sincerely,
Walter and Ellen Wildermuth

Joyful Noise will be singing in both worship services at Immanuel on Sunday, December 5th. All
students in Joyful Noise are encouraged to be present and sing at one or both of the morning services. The
anthem will be early in the service, so the students will be allowed to leave after singing in the 10:45 a.m.
service if they have already attended the 8:00 a.m. service. Students are to come directly to the balcony that
morning. Please mark this date on your calendar and plan to join us in worship as the students sing praises
to our Lord and Savior.
Information available through the school office for those interested:
