An Act to amend the " Constitution Act."

enacts as follows:—
II
1. This Act may be cited as the " Constitutiton Art Amendment short
Act, 1920."

2. Section 10 of the '• Constitution Act," being chapter 41 of the Amend" In.
" Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1911," as re-enacted by
section 2 of chapter 15 of the Statutes of 1919, is amended by striking
out the word " eleven " in the third line, and substituting therefor
the word " twelve"; and by inserting after the word " Industries,"
in the seventh line, the words Minister of }Attention."
3. Section 11 of said chapter 44 Is amended by striking out the Amends N. II.
word " eleven " inserted in the twelfth line thereof by section 2 of
said chapter 15, and substituting therefor the word " twelve."
4. Section :01 of said chapter 44 is amended by adding thereto the Amende s 30.
following subsections:—
"12.1 No Judge of the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, or any
County Court shall be embark of being elected a member of the
Legislature while he holds the office of Judge.
"(3.1 Women shall be culpable of being elected as members 1a the
Legislative Assembly upon the sante terms, in the same manner, and
subject to the same conditions as HMI."
5. Said chapter 41 is amended by inserting the following as section Add. • nts.
29*:—
" 29*. Notwithstanding anything in this Act, in the case of any
board or any royal or other commission the members or commis-

sinners of which receive no remuneration fill- their services. but are
paid, in whole or in part, the expenses incurred by them in fratiAling
or otherwise in dhe discharge of their IMMO duties. the fact that
any person who is member or commissioner of the hoard or commission has been paid or is entitled to be paid any expenses so incurred
by him shall nut make ineligible that person to election as a member
of the Legislative Assembly, nor disqualify him to sit and vote in
the Legislative Assembly."
Retrospective
application.
C. The amendments of said chapter 44
enacted by section IS shall
relate back to and take effect front the thirty-first day of March, 1919.
