Kindergarten Cowpoke News Week of September 6th—9th This Week’s Happenings in Miss Butler’s Room! Literacy: Our focus letters this week were Rr and Tt. Students also counted syllables in words and worked on creating rhyming word pairs. Encourage your child to find all of the R’s and T’s in a book, magazine, or newspaper. Also have them think of all the things around your house that start with a /t/ or /r/. Mathematics: The students reviewed sorting and relative positions like over, under, below, around, on, off, etc. Coins were introduced starting with the penny and we had such fun making various color, shape, and sound patterns. Don’t forget your snack day! Words of the Week: my, yellow Home Study Suggestions: Have your child practice writing their first name. Have them sort the spare change you have by color and size. Sing the alphabet song! Work on producing rhyming word pairs — cat, hat; dog, hog. Count from 1 to 25. Shoe tying practice! Extra, Extra! KAY County Fair We are participating in the Kay County Conservation District Kindergarten coloring exhibit. Our colored pictures will be displayed in the Agriculture Building at the fairgrounds in Blackwell. The fair is September 13-18th. Be sure to check it out! BoxTops We are participating in BoxTops for Education. If you have any BoxTops, please send them in the Take Home Folder. These will help us earn cash to buy items for our school.
