Early Learning Jamboree
& Kindergarten Fair
Peninsula School District is pleased to highlight our
involvement with the 2017 Early Learning Jamboree
and Kindergarten Fair, which is being held at the Tom Taylor
Family YMCA on Saturday, February 4, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m.
This is an exciting opportunity for families to learn about the
variety of local preschool and daycare programs, public and
private kindergarten programs, enrichment experiences, and school
readiness strategies. There will also be resources for families, such
as the Cheney Family Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs,
Children’s Home Society, Communities In Schools, Food
Backpacks 4 Kids, and Lindquist Dental Clinic for Children.
We encourage all families with young children to come to the
event. Attendees will be able to use the Tom Taylor Family
YMCA facilities for free that day. Bring your swimsuits and tennis
shoes! Games, crafts, and activities for children will be provided
by schools, daycares, and community organizations. There will
also be food, a book, face painting, and a photo booth to enjoy,
free of charge.
In addition, there is no joining fee if you become a Tom Taylor
Family YMCA member on the day of the Jamboree!
The sponsors of this event include the Peninsula Early Learning
Coalition, the Tom Taylor Family YMCA, Diono, the Peninsula
School District, Panera Bread, and Greater Gig Harbor
Foundation. See attached flyer.
Tech
Talk
Tech Talk with
Tech Services - “The Talk”
Talking tech with your child does not take
expertise in all of the tools that they are
using. Ensure that you ask your child
questions, listen, and share some basic
expectations. Topics to include in “The
Talk” are be kind, keep private things
private, don’t believe everything you see,
don’t overshare, and stand up for others.
For more talking points and
resources in helping out with “The Talk”
visit Common Sense Media (http://
sl.psd401.net/thetalk). The most important
thing to remember is that this is not a
one-and-done conservation. Have this
conversation frequently to help ensure
that your child has the tools necessary to
navigate the ever-changing digital world.

stone waterspout out of clay.
Over 150 parent volunteers from 8 elementary
schools came together for two fun filled nights of
training to make this project happen. Take a look
for yourself at what your kids will be learning at:
