What would Dracula drink? (Besides blood)
We just know Dracula loved a glass of wine when no one was looking. It was an image
thing, all that blood on his chin. Come midnight, even he couldn’t resist a tender steak with
a rich red Cab. If anyone asked, he could say it was blood, and no one ever did, because
they just assumed … he was Dracula, after all.
A spicy Syrah with that Italian dish he stole from someone’s kitchen…a gnarly Zinfandel to
match his dark mood when he was so often disrespected by those who should have
worshipped him … a Sangiovese to toast those Italians who so loved to be loved by a sweet
talking fellow with a bat-like black coat and oh yes, fangs.
The white wines, however, were a problem. He looked forward to the packed castle balls
that provided so many victims and the chance to grab glasses of bubbly off the butlers’
trays. He hid his Chardonnay in medicine bottles, snatching a taste just as dusk settled into
dreary night.
What would Dracula drink? (Besides blood)
The whites made him think of summer — well, summer nights, anyway– so perfumed with
the scents of flowers and tinkling with the laughter of humans who had no idea Dracula
possessed not just immortal power, but a world class palate, too. Who knew? Now you do!
We hope you had a Happy Halloween!
