The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) - The Blessed Sacrament
The Solemnity of Corpus Christi is celebrated on the first Sunday after the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. This feast began with St. Juliana, a young Belgian nun in the thirteenth century, who received in prayer an
inspiration for a feast that would celebrate and promote the gift of the Real Presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. This feast would eventually spread throughout the province, continent, and world. Corpus Christ and
its accompanying procession with the Blessed Sacrament, celebrating the sacrament and signifying Gods presence in our world and in our lives and reminding us of our common pilgrimage to Haven, is a prayerful and
edifying act of the entire church. As a general rule, devotions are not mentioned in the Code of Canon Law.
However, because of the importance of this devotion in the life of the Church, canon 944 mentions it: “When
it can be done in the judgement of the diocesan bishop, as a public procession is to be conducted through the
public streets, especially on the solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ.” On this feast we can express our
gratitude for the opportunity to receive our Lord every Sunday in the Eucharist, to adore Him in prayer, and to
show Him to the rest of the world in the streets of our archdiocese.

SVdP AID TO FLOOD VICTIMS
FURNITURE AND APPLIANCE DRIVE
The recent flooding affected many families in Franklin
county and the St Gertrude/St Ann SVdP responded
quickly by volunteering at one of the resource centers.
The immediate need of flood victims was food, so we
aided several affected food pantries in purchasing
food, and also sent $1000 worth of non-perishable staples to the Agape food pantry in Pacific.
We thank Krakow store for their help in putting this
together and providing these items at cost.
Many families lost everything for the 2nd time in 16
months. The high water hit areas that do not normally
flood all over southern Missouri.
If you have unused furniture or appliances
that you would like to donate please call 636 239
3919 and leave a message.
A tax receipt can be provided upon request.
SVdP will pick up your donation and get it to a distribution center.
Thanks for your continued prayer, support and donations!

Faith Formation
A Pledge to Parish Life
Prayer for Our Country, Leaders,
Communities and Families
My parish is composed of people like me. I help
make it what it is. It will be friendly, if I am. Its
pews will be filled, if I help fill them. It will do great
work, if I work. It will make generous gifts to many
causes, if I am a generous giver. It will bring other
people into its community, if I invite and bring
them. It will be a parish of loyalty and love, of
fearlessness and faith, and a parish with a noble
spirit, if I, who make it what it is, am filled with
these same things. Therefore, with the help of
God, I shall dedicate myself to the task of being
all the things that I want my parish to be.
Four Nights of Prayer will take place from June 30 July 3. We invite all to gather and pray the rosary for
the future of our country, leaders, communities and
families. Our Blessed Mother has asked us to pray for
peace and the rosary will be the focus of our prayer
time. We will gather at church, (St. Gertrude’s) 6:30
P.M. starting on Friday, June 30 and continue each
evening until Mass on the morning of July 4th.
(Saturday, July 1, the Rosary will start 30 minutes before the evening Mass) Come one night, two or all
four nights.
