Louise Nevelson Inspired Sculpture
Proceeds from “Herd of Buffalo”, designed by Creative Craft students, were used to purchase a large
metal work of art for the high school
staircase representing our Iroquois
Chief.
Students in Mrs.
Buttino's and Mrs. Campbell's
Creative Crafts classes created a
triangular, free standing sculpture that will find a permanent
home in the High School Library. The frame of the sculpture
was carefully crafted by the
maintenance staff, and stands
over 7 feet tall and 3 feet wide.
The art work was inspired by the
artist Louise Nevelson, who created massive works of art made
out of wood, and assembled in
an Abstract manner. Individual
students each created an 8x10
wood composition that they
sanded and stained. The individual art works were then put together to make one fantastic
creation that makes quite an impression. The Art room proves,
once again, that a team approach
can really impact how we see the
world and make a difference.
